Title: Kilmarnock
Post by: Goretti on Sunday 04 July 10 13:45 BST (UK)
Hi Can anyone throw some light on this please?

I have a father in law from Ireland buried and recorded in Kilmarnock 1904. A son was born in Kilmarnock  after his death Christopher McGirr 1904 (No record).

Cecilia McGirr died abt 1911 maybe Kilmarnock (No records)

His daughter Isabella McGirr married a Robert Murphy (Civil Sherrifs)? then moved onto Canada.

I have been a member of Scotspeople but can never get onto their site even after paying.

Has anyone a way of veiwing any records.

Not sure exactly what you are asking help with but Scotland's People website is the place to get Scottish certificates.

have you looked at Isabella's marriage certificate from 1914? That should give her mother's maiden name.

If you search for Robert Murphy & McGirr in 1914, it's the only record that shows up. Her first name shows up as Isabell.

Christopher's birth registration shows up in 1904 with surname recorded as Magirr.

the birth reg for Christopher might be more helpful. He was born before his father died - registered by his father. Marriage for parents is on the birth cert, it took place in Fermanagh. Only problem is that a different maiden name is given for Sarah, Allan rather than Dunlop.

Is Cecelia another one of the children?

There's a possible birth for Isabella as Magerr in 1893 registered Lisnaskea, Fermanagh on the FamilySearch pilot
