I've been vainly looking for Kublers for some months now, so I wonder if I could push my luck: C1901 for England lists a Margaret Kubler (as a visitor) and gives her pob as Sligo. Her date of birth would be around 1864. I have no idea of townland or parish. If anyone comes across Kublers(or Küblers) in their own research could they possibly let me know? I should be tremendously grateful.
Here's hoping

Hi Heywood
Thank you for the speedy reply- if you're right it looks as if another one hits the dust. :(

Hello Maggott,
You may remember we exchanged some info on the name of Withers some months ago and you said you were looking for a Kubler/Withers connection. I have been looking at the Dublin 1911 census and found two names of Kubler living in the same house as 3 names of Withers. The street name is Charles Street where a Martha and a Ralph Kubler lived with 3 Withers grandchildren. Hope this helps or have you already seen the census?
Regards, Carol

Hi Chappers & thank you very much for your message. Yes, these are the right people- couldn't believe my luck when the 1911 came on line & there they were. You don't have access to 1901 I suppose..... there should have been a posse of Kublers (across 2 generations) on it...

Hi , I can't believe this. this the first time on this site.I didn't know it existed until this evening I have been researching the Kubler family in ireland for a couple of years and have found many kublers. My grandmother is a Kubler her name alice died 1933. I have got back to her great grandfather and will post list of kublers i have found when I have more time. I have also info on the withers connection. Are u a Kubler urself. This is very exciting to find someone else researching the same family. I have spent the last couple of years trying to trace far enough back to the german connection and am having no luck all i have re german connection is the name roldolf kubler who is my great, great, great grandfather i have his sons charles henry Kubler marriage cert which gave me his name. Looking forward to hearing from you brianog

Hi Brianog You're the person I've been waiting for! Only discovered the Kubler connection earlier this year & operating from UK it isn't that easy to access Irish records. Like you I discovered Rudolph (?Rodolph) from Charles' Marriage certificate, & like you I'm stuck there. Wonder if he was Swiss tho - lots of Swiss Ks, I discover.
I should be very grateful if you could send me a personal message with the Kubler info you've collected. We're quite closely connected, I think, & I'd be happy to exchange info

You have to make a few posts before you can send personal messages here (anti-spamming measure). Maggott, you can send brianog a pm now but not the other way round.
-
OK
Brianog ignore the PM bit- anyway posting an ordinary message may flush more Kubler-seekers out, I suppose
Maggott

Use pm to exchange email addresses, details of living people and other personal details instead of posting online here.

hi maggott
delighted to receive your reply. will send u pm when i figure out how to do it !!!!! This is amazing. I do hope together we get to find more about Rodolph. I knew there were Kublers in England but had not explored that avenue as yet. In fact a daughter of Charles Henry Kubler and Martha Chapman Marion Susan Kubler married a samuel Craig from glasglow 17th July 1905. Do you want me to send a list of Kubler family with dates of birth, marriages deaths that I have found. if so it will take me a while to type them out. How closely are we connected ? brianog
-
Brianog you have to make at least one more post to send pms. Reply to this and then try looking for a green scroll under Maggott's name. Click on that and type message which will go to Maggott's inbox and not appear online.

thanks a million

hi maggott
This is all the info I have discovered over the years. even though I live in Dublin It has taken me a long time to find and gather this info. With many stops and starts
my grandmother Maud Alice Kubler born dublin 5th oct 1903, married my grandfather 6th may1924 (edward watson) had one child *. alice died 3rd august 1933. I might add here that she was the main reason for me becoming interested in this research. I have a photo of her and always wanted to know more about her and her ancestors. As a kid we were told that she was of german descent which further intrigued me
Alice's father Charles George Kubler (a brush maker) born 26-7-1878 dublin married martha brennan 8-10-1902. They had 3 children including alice. A martha ann kubler born 23-9-1907 and Elizabeth Esther kubler born 14-6-1913 in cork. To date I cannot find anything re these sisters. Their father Charles g fought in the first ww with Connaught Rangers and died 30-5-1918. i went to Lille a couple of years back and found his grave in the military cemetry in Ebblinghem. i also have a photo of him in uniform.
Charles g kubler is the eldest son of Charles Henry Kubler and Martha Chapman Kubler. Charles henry Kubler also a brushmaker 9 i have a copy of some deed he made with a solicitor re his brushmaking business which he ran from ushers quay in Dublin. He was born circa 1849 and died 1899. Buried in drumcondra cemetry dublin near my home. He married Martha Chapman 15-9-1874 (she was born in London) circa1853 died ? her father was a brushmaker too. Got rodolph Kubler name (Charles henry father) on their marriage cert he was a boot manufacturer. Thats all i know about him.
They had 8 children including
1. Charles g
2. Martha florence kubler born 1876 married a william James withers (withers connection) 29-10-1895. She died in 3 -4-1911. They had four children. William James born 29-07-1897. Florence Elizabeth born 2-4-1899, Adelaide born 27-12-1900, Alfred born 14-11-1905
3. Trinette kubler born feb 1880 married a francis deegan in 1900. found one child in the 1911 census a charles henry
4.marion susan born dec 1881 married a samuel craig from glasglow in 07-1905
5. edith georgina kubler born 24 -4-1884 married a robert searsons in 04- 1907 found one child robert james
6. maud alice kubler born 1886 circa died 1900
7. augustus henry kubler born 4- 02-1889, married a frances baxter from Manchester in june 1917 special licence. he was also in the first ww. with the royal army medical corps. Can't find anything more about him so far anyway.
8. William Ralph Kubler born 22-10-1891. was alive in 1911 living with his mother withers children Don't know what happened to him after that.
I have all relevant certs for all except where I say circa
The Kubler trail continues
can't wait to find out about how close we are connected

Hi
Just wondering whether anyone can help. I have recently discovered my Kubler ancestors are from Basel, in Switzerland. Where do i start? Anyone know any good genealogy sites re switzerland.
Thankyou brianog

Only just found this site and I may be able to fill in some gaps. My name is Joy Kubler, married to David Kubler. His father * born in 1918 is still alive and well at the ripe old age of 91 and lives with us. His father was Charles Kubler and his mother was Frances Kubler. His grandfather was called Gustave (possibly Charles Gustave) who was married to Martha.
Dad has one brother * born in 1920 (also still alive) who has two daughters, one of whom is called Trinette and we always wondered where the name came from but after reading your post it appears there was already one in the family. It seems too much of a coincidence.
All dad (Cyril) remembers is that his dad had a brushmaking business in Dublin and is buried in a graveyard in Clontarf (hope that's how you spell it).

To follow on from the last message I think dad was a little confused when he gave me those names (allowable at 91 yrs old!) and his dad was Augustus Henry Kubler and not Charles. Apologies. If I can help any more please get in touch.
-
Thanks a million. I have been in touch with * and * over the past year (your cousins I think) and have exchanged information on that branch of the Kubler family. My great grandfather is Charles George Kubler older brother to Augustus Kubler who married Frances Baxter. Charles George died in ww1 was with the Connaught rangers died of wounds in Ebblinghem, near Lille in France 1918. Am I right to say you are married to * and that his Dad is * brother to * .

Just getting used to this site and seems cannot send a personal message until I have posted three items. So this is the third. Hopefully can contact you later and see if can help with anything.

Hi
sorry for time lapse in replying. Could you ask Cyril if he has any photos of his grandparents charles henry kubler and martha chapman kubler. Trinette had a treasure trove of photos which were fantastic and I just wondered if he has any more! Alao does he know anymore on Rudolph Kubler born in Switzerland 1820's circa. Thanks again

To Brianog
Have asked dad and his parents Augustus Henry Kubler and Frances Baxter moved to the Isle of Man at some point. They then separated. Augustus died on 13/03/1957 and is buried in the parish cemetery of German in Glenfaba which is on the west coast of the IOM (so called because it is where the cathedral of St German is located and not to do with our name - just a coincidence!). Frances died on 17/08/1957 and is buried in the parish of Patrick, also in Glenfaba IOM. Both of these parishes come under Peel now. She lived in Glen Maye on IOM. Don't know if dad has any photos - will ask him. Hope this is of use to you.

hi bexley
Great to hear from you again. I have been working hard and so have had little time for Kubler research for a while now. Am finishing work for the summer tomorrow so I will be back on the Kubler trail. Have been in touch with Trinette and feel for her in her sad news recently. Does your Dad Cyril remember going to visit Howth, co Dublin to see Trinette back in the 30's or so. She ran a small boarding house called Galteemore there in Bailey, Howth.
Have found a lot more information re my grandmother Alice Kubler and her sisters and will send a message re same. Hope to talk soon Brianog
-
should also have said i hope ur dad Cyril is coping also with recent bereavement. That was insensitive of me.
-
Thanks for your note. I have passed your message on to Dad. Very kind of you to think of him.
He remembers being sent on holiday to Dublin but he thinks he was about 10/12 years old (born 1918) so doesn't quite fit and he stayed with his auntie Trinette in a holiday cottage. He says he was sent back to Manchester in disgrace as he was teaching the local children how to smoke! Because of his age he doesn't always remember things immediately but every now and then he starts talking about "the old days" so I now make sure I have a notepad handy and try to write down anything relevant. Like you I have not always got time to keep in touch but will try to make the effort as none of us are getting any younger and it would be shame to break the chain and lose the memories and the facts.

Hello. Am also doing research on the Kubler family for the granddaughter of:
Marion Kubler (born 1881) who married Samuel Craig (born 1880)
Have a public tree on Ancestry.co.uk but can't add much else I'm afraid. Was just wondering if anyone had managed to find out more about the Swiss origins of the Kublers? Thanks!
PS. Haven't added granddaughter's name as living so would get removed by the moderator but she lives in the Netherlands.
-
Hi Pip
I & a posse of cousins are all researching the Kublers- Did your branch live in Ireland in the later 19th century? They seem to have come from Basel before 1870ish. A couple of generations on some moved to Scotland/England but one branch at leaset stayed in Ireland. If you'd like more specific info please send me a pm
Best
Maggott
-
Hi Maggot
Not sure how to PM. I've just joined today.
Anyway, I have quite a few Küblers in the tree already but the most immediate is Marion Kubler (on the maternal line) who married Samuel Craig and their family and following generations lived in Scotland and Chili. And then the granddaughter I mentioned (daughter of Agnes Craig, who was daughter of Samuel and Marion) moved to the Netherlands after marrying into the Groeneveld family.
We're quite keen to trace the Basel roots but of course would be intrigued to find other living relations/cousins and where they fit in.
Thanks again,
PiP

Hi Pip,

I can hardly believe this. Its great to meet you. I would be very interested in exchanging information. Like you I have found the Basel connection through Kubler cousins in Manchester. Alice kubler married my grandfather Edward Watson in 1925. charles Henry Kubl
er (born in basel)

Looking forward to hearing from you. I can hardly type i'm so excited.

Hello Bernie
I'm so excited you're excited – that's sweet – and I'm glad I came across your posts.
The thing is I'm just doing the research for my partner's mother so I'm not actually a relation (more of a faux in-law) ;)
However, send me a private message with your email address (and message for your cousin) and I will pass it on!
Warmest,
PiP

Hi, my partner and I are trying to find out more about her mother's family..her maiden name is Yvonne Kubler..now Yates. We believe the family name either comes from Austria or Switzerland. Her mum today mentioned that her immediate ancestors were from Ireland but moved to Eccles/Manchester. We know that her mum's father was Cyril Henry Kubler (a bricklayer)..he married Edith Paletjorpe...and her grandfather was Augustus Henry Kubler (a brush maker). Her mum doesn't seem to know very much about the family history, but we are both fascinated by the family origins and would love to know any more details. Thank you.

Welcome to Rootschat, Chris.
brianog has not been online for a few years but may still get notification of your post via email from the site.
Here is another thread from brianog about your particular interest

Have you searched anywhere yourself?
This site can be useful - you just need to prove you’re not a robot ;)
Here, for example, is the birth record of Augustus Henry
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1889/02486/1922688.pdf
You can search for other family members.
The Irish census 1901 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/ has some family members too. Unfortunately, Charles had died by that time.

Hi!
I don’t know if any of you are online but I hope you see this!

Hi everyone, have just joined, never done this online stuff so maybe getting this wrong as don't see if/how I identify which post am replying to...
Anyway, general intro,,my grandmother is Marion who married Sam Craig. Unfortunately I just missed meeting Bernie when she and I think some others visited my sister in Anglesey just prior to Floras death. I have just skimmed thro 'Journey into the Past' (from younger bro) and learned a lost from it, a substantial document thanks Bernie.
My younger bro and sis were slightly mystified by that visit, showed me a family tree but unfortunately didnt copy it; they were very surprised that I recalled a visit to some family in Dublin with my mum Maud Alice (Moggy) I was really quite young but remember Mog pointing out a massive 'Brush & Bristle' advert painted on the wall alongside where the ferry docked and said something like thats your grandfather Sam's, I thought it was his business, but maybe she meant he had painted it.
I also recall walking up a slight hill and into a rather grand detached house for the Dublin family visit - was it before or after Sam died, I was 9 at that time. Sam and Marion lived in Hoylake Wirral having moved there from lower Largo and I recall he worked in Edinburgh before retiring.
Hope this rather long intro is interesting thanks

Hi Sardevsin, my partner Rachel would love to see details of the Kubler family tree going back to the 18th Century! She has always been curious as to which village in Switzerland (?) that her ancestors came from. She thinks her mother Yvonne is the cousin of Trinette.
I remember, at age around 9 visiting with my mum I believe her Kubler relatives in Interlaken - elderly ladies of her mums (Marion) generation. It was I guess 4 storey with door straight from a narrow street. After the visit we had some bread and chocolate (usual lunch) sitting on a bench overlooking a large open air pool just a few minutes walk away (google earth interlaken bodelibad is the kind of scene i recall). The kind of street is like the one about 600m to the west the bodelibad along the river bank then in a little (street view to find) but certainly not so smart looking
