Title: Why did Alexander Hang himself? Completed
Post by: sgc on Monday 28 June 10 06:37 BST (UK)
Hi guys,

My ancestor Alexander Wood hung himself in 1861 (South Leith).  I've attached his death cert, but need help with the last four words:-

"committed suicide by hanging within his own house while under a temporary derangement of mind  ? ? ? ? "

The best I can guess at is "consequent on ? dissipation".  Can anyone improve on or  correct this?

Regards, Stephanie

Thanks everyone,

I guess if you are going to be dissipated, you had better go the whole hog and be excessive about it, no point in half measures!
