Thanx once again. :) I was looking under Flora. Didn't even think of Florence. In my defense, it was late at nite and I had been on the computer since
the morning... :o
Much appreciated.
Cheers
Jon
EDIT: - As a matter of interest the marriage of the parents doesnt' show up on the online BDM QLD but is on the BDM CD...!
-
Hi,
I wonder whether WILLIAM JOHN DAVEY married again.
This marriage took place 17th Feb 1909
In 1909 reg. 531 Davey,William John to Gosling, Annie
His death was later the same year as posted by MERLIN.
It is a little unlikely, .... ???but with three young daughters....??

Interesting. I am sure with three young children he would have been looking for another wife. I wonder why it took him 6 years. Rather a long time in those days but then again they were in far North Qld and perhaps there was a paucity of eligible women.
William's Ist wifes parents came to a very sad and unfortunate end: -
The Queenslander Dec 15 1877 - On Tuesday last [11/12/1877] A man named Krutz, who lives at Thornborough, shot his wife through the head with a revolver. She died immediately. He then lodged two bullets in his own head, and lies in a precarious state.
It appears that 4 of the 5 children left behind in this bitter tragedy and ranging from 1 year to 12 years of age man have been adopted out as I can find no trace of their marriages or deaths aside from Albertina who was the eldest at 17 at the time and who married William Davey 4 years later. Perhaps it was Albertine that looked after her siblings?
Cheers and thanks for the follow thru with the extra information.

Hi Jon,
The immigration record I have given above would clearly seem to be you Albertine with her parents.
It is 1872.
They are the only ones of the name on HUMBOLT that year. No other children. She was not 12 in 1877.(as quoted in the item)
I am not sure the tragedy you quote was the correct family.
I do not see any first names given in the items.
Cannot locate the murdered woman's death recorded in QLD.

Realized just after I posted that it was probably not the same family. Has to be a close relative though as they were all in the same area.
And yes I couldn' find any death for the murdered woman.
Will keep searching. Still can't trace Altertine's siblings or the parents. Have tried several combinations of names. Maybe they left the satate or returned home form whence they came?
Jon

Jon, there are 6 births & 2 deaths up to 1886 relating to Albertina's Siblings on the index which you should be able to see as you own the cd yourself :)
I'll check further shortly for anyone else in the family.

Apparently the port of departure for the ship Humboldt was Hamburg and the arrival port Bowen - however, sometimes I find the arrival port is not necessarily the one the passengers actually disembark at.

The newspaper article re the murder could not have been the correct family. Franz Henry/ and Wilhelmina KLEMM had children in Queenland until nearly 10 years after this murder.

Cheers Kris :)

Hi
It should be noted, in case it is of relevance later, that the given name of ALBERTINE's father on the immigration record is HEINRICH

Franz Henry/ and Wilhelmina KLEMM had children in Queenland until nearly 10 years after this murder
I agree :D That's why post #11 is about the children being born up to 1886 & as Jon has his own QLD BDM cd he would be able to look them all up himself, hence the reason why I didn't bother listing them all ;D

Got those. It's John, William, Augusta and Hermann that I can't account for either a marriage or death, as well as the deaths of the parents Frantz and Wilhelmina Clemm\Klemm
Jon
-
John, there's 6 births ;)
You only listed 4 ???
And out of those 6 two died by 1886 ;)
-
Looks like Albertine's mother had some company on the voyage ;)
This is probably Wilhelmine's brother his wife & children ;D

Actually make that 7 BIRTHS!
Just found another one hiding in there ;D
-
Seven Births for you to lookup on your cd:
Franz Otto -1872
John Charles - 1875
Elizabeth Ida - 1877
William Frederick - 1880
Augusta Wihelmina - 1882
Robert Albert - 1885
Hermann Edward - 1886
Two Deaths for you to look up:
Robert Albert - 1885
Franz Otto - 1886
-
Merlin
Sorry if I have confused ;D
I have the 7 births of which 2 are dead and one living [Albertine]
Of the above 7 children there is John, William, Augusta and Hermann that I can't account for. No marriage no death. Additionally there is no death of the parents Frantz and Wilhelmina Clemm\Klemm that I can find. It's as though the family just up and left.
Herman was the last born and then Albertine married in 1891. And if they did go I would suggest it was after the marriage.
Thanx for the shipping info.
-
OK 8)
I'll have a deeper look later into some of my other resources & see if I can't find them possibly under misspellings or variations of their names :)
Acutally have a look around & see if you can find anything on the KLEMM's that I think are Wilhelmine's family, could lead you to them you never know ;)
-
Hi Jon,
I am finding precious little also.
KRUTZ Frank granted a licence to cut hardwood 25 July 1874 at Copperfield cost £1
KRUTZ Franz registered a brand (K Z O) at Charters Towers 14 July 1877
also listed in Queensland Brands Directory 1920
KRUTZ Franz (K Z ?) Its actually not a full circle more a circle like a 6 or even a G (It does not join but comes in under the top of circle.
Cheers Kris :)
-
Thanx for going the extra yards Kris. Some handy info there.
They were supposed to be further north a couple of years later. That is why I initally thought it was him that did his wife and himself in.
I've tried several combination of name spelling of Krutz but can't come up with anything. Will have a poke around with Klemm as per Merlin's
suggestion.
Cheers

Seems the KLEMM's had a child born aboard the HUMBOLDT
http://maryborough.50megs.com/webHUMBOLDT1872.htm
Mrs F H KRUTZ travelled to Sydney from Cairns 2 Sep 1896 aboard the FRANKLIN
also some possible travel between Australia and NZ a Mrs KRUTZ along with 2 Miss KRUTZ's and a Master KRUTZ arrived from Auckland 7 Aug 1897 aboard the TARAWERA
Looking at NZ and aha - Look what I found ;D
deaths
Frank KRUTZ 1903/5080 aged 57
Wilhelmina Henretta 1928/7522 aged 87
William Frederick 1898/5076 aged 18
Charles John 1927/6948 aged 52
and some other younger possible connections
also marriages for some (William George, Charles John, Herman Edward, Blanch and Augusta) 3 Births listed to Charles and wife Blanch
So it appears most of the family eventually settled in NZ ;)
Cheers Kris :)

I note Mrs DAVY and Herman had left for their home in Charters Towers a month before
You will find a few other mentions in the NZ papers. One mention re Mr Krutz late of Queensland purchasing property in 1894
and the families arrival in 1894

Burials listed here ;D
http://www.newplymouthnz.com/AtoZOfCouncilServices/CemeteriesAndCrematorium/CemeterySearch.htm
Looking at some of the dates there may still be relatives in the New Plymouth area
Cheers Kris :)
-
WOW! So they did up and leave after all. Thank you Kris so very much.
Greatly appreciated.

Jon, I might be able to help with you inquiry as Albertina Julianna Krutz was the first wife of my great grand uncle William John Davey.

Ok so I'm not sure about what information your looking for, did your previous discussions on Rootschat address your inquiries for example after Albertina Julianna Krutz died 02 Dec 1903, William John remarried Henrietta Mathilde Schueler 21 May 1904 and they had three children. William John died 02 Apr 1941 at Charters Towers Qld and is buried at Lynd Highway Cemetery Charters Towers, Section 44, Plot 60, Grave 9434, aged 73.
