Title: THANK YOU!!!!
Post by: mcfc1923 on Tuesday 29 March 05 19:12 BST (UK)
Just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped me gather the info that enabled me to visit my gt uncle's grave in France, and being the first relative to pay my respects at his graveside since he died at Arras in 1918 was a special moment.

Arthur Warburton, 1898 - 1918

big thanks to everyone

My great great uncle died at Ypres in 1917. Its so sad that a large part of an entire generation was wiped out because of war and nationalistic pride.

Frederick Harling 1899 - 1917.

Sorry for delay, my computer crashed on me.
Your gt gt uncle was  very young, just checked him out on the CWGC, I see he died at the 3rd battle of Ypres, better known
world wide as Passchendaele, i'll have a look out for his name the next time i visit the Menin gate at Ypres.
As you say, such a waste of a generation.

regards

jim

I too have uncovered several relatives - four in total - who were killed in action in WW1.  The closest one to me was my Gt Gt Uncle who was also killed at Arras...I really must make an effort to go.

Private Ephraim Warner
31487, 1st Bn., Essex Regiment
21st March 1894 - 14th April 1917

Thank you to them all...

Regards, Emma ;)
