I'm trying to establish if Thomas Osborne, who married Susanna Lancaster in Aug 1790 in Wood Ditton was the same person who later married Sarah Stinton on 10 Jul 1797 in Great Wilbraham.
I have the Cambs death records index, on which I have found the death of Susanna Osborn in 1797 in Wood Ditton, aged 28, so I'd like to find out exactly when she died to help decide whether it could have been the same Thomas and, if so, how long he waited after the death of his first wife before he remarried!
I'd also be interested in any details of Thomas and Sarah's marriage, particulary whether he's listed as single or widowed.
Any info greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Tara,
There is a burial record for Susanna Osborn age 28 on 28th Jan 1797, St Mary, Wood Ditton.
So if it is the correct Thomas he didn't waste much time in getting re-married ;)

Thanks, JJ. That's v helpful.
Thomas and Susanna had had at least 4 children by the time she died, so I'm guessing he needed to find a mother asap to look after them! Sad really.
Just hoping now someone can check the marriage record for Thomas and Sarah to see if he's listed as a widow, which I think will be the final piece.

As well as showing Thomas to be a widower ideally you need him to be of the parish of Wood Ditton as well.
A note of caution: the burial index on the Cambs FHS site at http://www.cfhs.org.uk/Search.html shows a Thomas Osborn age 54 buried in Wood Ditton in 1820, which looks very much like your Thomas. But in 1851 living in Fulbourn was a Thomas Osborn 85 b Fulbourn and his wife Sarah age 71 b Gt Wilbraham. This Thomas and Sarah baptised children in Fulbourn from 1798 onwards, which would tie in with a 1797 marriage.
The IGI, extracted entries, shows baptisms of Thomas Osborn in Wood Ditton on 29 May 1868, and another Thomas Osborn on 21 May 1869 at Fulbourn.
So I don't think it's necessarily cut and dried that it's Thomas the widower from Wood Ditton who married in Gt Wilbraham. In fact, I think it probably wasn't.
