Hi Rootschatters!
Can you offer any help deciphering the following name from a will dated 1771 please?
I can post a separte section for comparison if that helps...
Many thanks
Amy

Hi Amy,
Yes, a little extra would be helpful I think. (Are we the only ones not watching the football or on the 1911 site?)

I think the 2 capitals are "A"s- a guess, but ti me it looks like A(braham) Adamson

Oh dear... I thought they were an 'M' and a 'B' :-[

Well, this is her husband's name... with the text underneath reading 'Tallow Chandler son of'

Do you think the surname could be Bardon/Barden?
-
Yes, I do, either Bardon or maybe Bardin... I didn't say in the original post as I didn't want to lead people - it's the forename that has got me totally stumped.
I think I can decipher Bo_hont but what on earth could that be?
Do you think the surname could be Bardon/Barden?

Me too! It looks like ?ochont. I don't think it's a 'B' as it doesn't look like the 'B' in the surname. To me it looks like an 'M' or a 'W' but that doesn't help much, does it? ;D

It looks to me like Mochont. Could it be a surname used as a first name, her mother's maiden name, perhaps?
