Hi pinball

According to the births which were registered, Phoebe and William, had a total of 13 children.

I can't see one named "Richard" though ?    (There is "Leslie" not mentioned in your names above  ?  - registered in 1902 - and as mentioned in an earlier reply.)

*  Are you wanting information for the whole of this family ?

*  Which of the children are you related to  ?  (Just so we don't double up on info you may already have.)   ;)

Hi pinball

At the following site you can find a photo of Tom and some details of his background.

http://muse.aucklandmuseum.com/databases/general/

Library Services :  Click on "Cenotaph"

Note:    Tom is shown as "Thomas EDLIN" so you'll need to search on that name.   :)

~  Lu

Additional Note:  His Army service details show his year of birth as "1892" -- though his actual birth registration was in 1891.

I can't spot a marrige for Tom, this could be him at Waikumete

http://www.waitakere.govt.nz/cnlser/cm/cemeterysearch/cemeterydetails.aspx?id=33730

It seems that Tom married, using the name "Thomas EDLIN".

1st Marriage

Margaret Hannah MERRY - Thomas EDLIN - 1911

2nd Marriage   ???

Thomas EDLIN - Elsie May MARSOM - 1922

As the info at the Cenotaph website talks of a "first wife", then you'd expect there was a 2nd (wife) .   ;)   The above lady is also buried at Waikumete Cemetery (EDLIN - Elsie May - died 1975).

~  Lu

Edit:  Seems Tom was widowed.    Possible death of 1st wife -- 1920 - EDLIN, Margaret - 25 years (b.abt. 1895) :
Her birth -- 1895 - MERRY - Margaret Hannah :

William Edlin was one of nine children of George Robert Edlin and Ann Wortley.  They emigrated to New Zealand on the John Fletcher in 1856 with William and their two younger children all of whom were born in Eaton Leicestershire.

George was one three brothers sons of William Edlin and Susan Attiwell who emigrated to New Zealand independently of each other.

I can take the Leicestershire family back to the 16th century and also have a very extensive tree for the whole New Zealand dynasty.  If you PM me with an email address I will send you copies.

Incidently I have sixteen children for William and Phoebe.

To PM me click on the green scroll to the left of this post.

Herbert Leeson Edlin who was the author of many books on trees and forestry was the great great grand son of Robert Edlin who was the grand father of William Edlin and great grandfather of George who emigrated.

I am a bit confused as to which children have been already identified.

I don't have Charles.  I do have
Robert born and died 1907
Edward born 1899 died 1968
Frederick born and died 1901
Jackie (no details)

Does anyone have any details of Richard  and Charles please?

These are not my family but as some of you are already aware I have a one name study of the Edlin family worldwide.

Hi,

NZ BMD does not show any Charles Edlin or Richard Edlin born in that time in NZ.

Robert John Edlin born 1893 died 1907 age 14 y

There are three Charles Edlins deaths on NZ BMD.

Sorry I couldn't read my own notes.  I agree with Leandra about Robert John.  He also appears to have been known as little Jackie which I think solves where that name came from.

I also have a note that Richard married Irlene but they had no children.  They moved to Christchurch around 1930.
