Title: Census search without surname - COMPLETED WITH THANKS
Post by: MichaelCardiff on Saturday 19 June 10 14:10 BST (UK)
My Welsh family don't appear in 1891 or 1901 censuses, but are there in 1911.  I think they may have Anglicised the spelling of their surname.  Can we search online without surname in a particular parish or do I need to visit the local offices?  Thanks.

Hello Michael  :)

Both of the two main online census sites allow searches without surnames.  If you have problems just give the  names, DoBs, areas that you are looking for and we'll all try to help

Best regards

Yes, basically, I've found rellies by just putting a place name in the search or just generally playing around with the search. This helps if they've been mistranscribed or dittoed under the previous household (don't ask  ;))
