Hi andwelcome to rootschat.

From the census, when would you estimate they married, given the info on their first child that is in the census list?

From Family search website
Marriage of Christopher Hanson & Elizabeth Amos  27 December 1870 at Copley (on the outskirts of Halifax) Grooms father John Hanson Brides father Richard Amos.
From freebmd Marriage listed December quarter 1870 Halifax volume 9a  page 639.
Birth of Christopher 30th October 1844, baptised/christened 17 November 1844, Halifax parents John Hanson & Sarah
Christening of Elizabeth Amos 6 June 1843 Boddington Northampton. Parents Richard Amos and Sarah.
Haven't checked for the proper birth registrations as rushing to get to work:(  :(
With regards to the village of Scotland... I don't know of a village but there is a farm called Scotland in Colden (above Hebden Bridge) maybe there were others nearer to Halifax that someone might know of....
Must rush off.....
Hope that helps

Hi and welcome to rootschat
Everyone has access to www.familysearch.org and www.freebmd.org.uk   Those are the sites that a lot of people use.  Neither has absolutely full coverage but they are a good start.

Hi, freebmd is completely free ;D  and it's wonderful in how much one can find there.  The indexes have been transcribed by volunteers.

So we can all go there... do try it.
G*8gle for the site.

The link I gave earlier also works - it is shorter so I prefer that one.  Fewer letters to type!
