Hi have been researching my Milne Tree. My grandfather Albert Milne was born 1900 in Aberdeen to John milne b1865 Kincardine Maggie Summers b1864. Ive followed the family back as far as David milneb1796 Married to Elspet. What I am looking for is trying to follow brothers or sisters. Now John and Maggie only had one child but John came from a large family as did his father all from Nigg Kincardine. So:
John Milne b1865 Parents John Milne b1835 Ann Duthie b1842 -Kids Jesse Milne 1864
Jane Milne 1866- Ann Milne 1867-Alexander1868- Elspet 1870 William 1873- David 1876
James 1879- Elizabeth 1880- Maggie or Margaret 1882- Gordon or Garden 1883 Now there could be a Garden and a Gordon on seperate census records one says Gordon 1884 and one says Garden 1884. It could just be a typo, or there could be two. Now if anyone is related to any of these family members I would love to continue to follow their line. I know some of my great grandfathers siblings had moved to Australia, British Columbia, Chicago but not sure who or exactly where. Lets make a connection.
Hopeful Jeannie Milne

Hi Jeannie,
I know I`ve been in contact before and said I didn`t think there was any connection between your Milne`s and mine, but....
My GG Grandad William Milne was born in 1845 at Cairnhill, Cookney, Fetteresso. (Parents William Milne and Jane Cushnie) He had a sister Jane (1844) she married a John Robertson.
I have found John and Jane Robertson (nee Milne) on the 1901 census living in Stonehaven, Kincardine, and also:-
Maggie Duthie, visitor, 54,married, born Stonehaven, Kincardine
Maggie McKenzie, visitor, 26, married, born Springburn, Glasgow
Does this info ring any bells? I just came across it tonight and thought I`d mention it
Kindest regards
Tracey

Hi Mcbaryn :)
Welcome to Rootschat.
Where are your Milne`s from? Trying to follow the Milne`s in Kincardine is likely to drive you mad ::) ::) ::)
Or is that just me ???

Hi Tracey
Mine are from Kincardine too.. so far! I was researching my Law family tree and got sidetracked into the Milne's. Mary Lyall Campbell Milne (abt 1843
in Law Kirk, Kincardinshire) father was a staff Sgt James Milne (according to an old family tree I've found) his wife was Margaret Findlater I thnk. I'm just starting to look into them, have indeed had a run around on the Kincardine Milne's thought I had it all sorted but was off on the wrong track! Back to the drawing board.......
I'll get in touch if I find anything else

It looks like a few families have all the same names up there in Kincardine
My hubands grt grandmother was Helen Milne Mearns
I have been trying to find where the Milne comes from
Helen's parents were George Mearns and Jane Coddenhead (Codenhead )
Helen was a linen worker at Brechin
her son married into the Lyall family from Brechin and Edzill

Hi
You'd think there could be some link somewhere with my Mary Lyall Campbell Milne and your Milne and Lyall but I can't see anything just now maybe with some more digging! I've found a couple of trees with Helen Mearns and her parents on ancestry.com so will have a closer look when I get a chance and see if there are any names in common.

I've got a John Milne marrying a Janet Croll in 1812. I believe Janet was sister of Isabella Croll and Elizabeth Croll (who also married a John Milne) and Ann Croll (who appears to have married a James Milne)
I have a number of Milnes marrying into a few of my main branches in Kincardineshire including:
George Milne m. Jean Lawson 1793
Elizabeth Milne m. Richard Lawson 1819
Jean Milne m. George Croll abt 1740
Crolls and Milnes are driving me mad!
