Just an observation from the little I've seen of the records - quite a few have information such as witnesses & sponsors "not recorded" on the initial results, but, when you go into the digital record the information is there, so make sure to examine the digital record.
-
I've found a few people. The links to the scans of the registers are great.
-
Hi
Not much more added some COI records.
Really could have done with all RC records there
Ah well at least we have our irish census 1901/1911 online
We will have to wait till the end of the year for the rest of RC records to go online
on irish genealogy

I was disappointed my Holland County Cork people weren't with the new batch of records. It's a great resource though giving you free access to images from the original parish registers.

Well I'm very pleased right now,Between the 1901 census and irishgenealogy.ie I've discovered a previously unknown great aunt
on the Owens side plus ages for some of the children that I did'nt have already and a set each of Owens great great grandparents
and great great great grands'! A new maiden surname for a great great grandmother(Eason or Easons)plus occupations other than military or labourers and a bit of insight into their lives,I'm now amazed that the family who were supposed to have started out in Wales all appear to have been born in Dublin with the exception of my grandfather and one of his sisters who don't appear to be registered at all so maybe the family did live in Wales
for a few years at least and hopefully will find their birth details there. These are all C of I records but I'm a bit disappointed that none of my Roman Catholic families have appeared on the parish records yet but loads to work on for now.Good luck with all your searches.

I have looked and found several good records but i am intrigued by the talk of scans... is this available on all and if not, how do you idenify those that do have?
-
When you click on a record you will see a message
"The church register page containing this record has not yet been imaged."
or
"View the church register page containing this record."

Are they planning on rolling this out for further counties ??
-
Hi,
I am sure hoping this will be case!
After more than five years of travelling to Dublin ( not a terrible thing to do) and trawling through parish registers, line by line, parish by parish... I found my Greatgrandfathers' family! Yeah!!!!

As far as I am aware, scans will be added later this year when the rest of the Dublin RC Parishes are added.

Can I clarify? Are they adding in RC & COI records for all 32 counties?

I dont think so... the initial plans are to cover Dublin City (and some parts of the county), Cork City and west county, and counties Kerry and Carlow.
As far as I can see they are concentrating on areas not already covered by the IFHF system.

Thanks.
Offaly isn't currently covered by IFHF so it would be fantastic if it was eventually added.
-
The IFHF are apparently working on records for Offaly & Laois... it was in a newsletter they sent earlier this year..

Just in case . . . here's a plea for Co Monaghan.

This site is amazing,I noticed a record which showed "foundling"
where the address should be so I got curious and did a search with no name just foundling for address and it came up with a list of results,if you look at the names of some and the location of the hospital you can see why they were given their names, poor little mites. Also some results show older children and even adults, this I did'nt understand.
Anne
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/search.jsp?name=&location=foundling&dd=&mm=&yy=&submit=Search
p.s. just found this listed as address for a Patrick O'Brien born 1870,
"FOUND AS A DESERTED CHILD IN KENNEDY'S LANE"
most likely on the original record but is it any wonder some records are hard to find.
-
came across a query re Daniel Patrick Quinlan Bandon Co Cork who emigrated to MA. U S A in 1842 ref Kathleen Johnson with posting address attached but can't locate that particular posting since my original finding. would like to be able to regain access to this address

Who are you looking for in Monaghan? I photographed quite a few cemeteries during summer and also got quite a few records that I'm currently entering into a database...

Does any one know if you can access the scans
only through a particular record or if you can scroll through a particular register book?
Padraig
-
Hi Padraig, you will notice that any scans of the books already on the site are highlighted in blue writing at the bottom of the record, its not possible to scroll through them.At the moment not all scans have been digitised but hopefully will gradually appear over time.

it's a little bit techie... but you can 'scroll' through some of the registers. Dont know if it works for all of them, but it works for the parishes I was searching that had images added.
What you do is add or subtract 1 from the image number in the URL (the web address in your browser).
e.g. to scroll through marriages for Clontarf, Dublin (Church of Ireland), start at this link (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/reels/d-833-1-1-051.pdf)
...../reels/d-833-1-1-051.pdf
the image number is the 051 at the end of the address. To move to the next page change the image number in the webpage address to 052 and hit enter.
There are separate volumes for births and marriages, and the numbers are not always continuous and restart at new values when a new register volume is started. Once you find the a starting point you can try working forwards or backwards by altering the number.
The index system and searches are quite good, but if you are trying to double check a particular date, you could start off by locating an unrelated baptism or marriage in the right parish, in the relevant month and then scroll back or forward from there.
Each image shows one or two complete pages of the register.

Great Shane

I, too, want to add my thanks to Shane for this piece of information. I have been bemoaning the fact that I couldn't scroll through the whole register. Roll on 2011 & the release of the remaining Cork records.
