Post by: Brighton06 on Wednesday 16 June 10 00:01 BST (UK)
I have been searching for some time my Grandfathers Naval record and with lots of researching and use of a very helpful website, i believe i have found a trace of him. I was wondering however how i move forward with the information. Below is the information from HMS Halcyon of the crew list. Where would i go now to find out further information
Smith R H Lt (E)   8.6.39   Navy List for Dec 1939
Thanks in advance

Is your grandmother still alive? She can request his records for free if so... If not you can obtain his records for the cost of £30 (and a copy of his death certificate).  Ask for a photocopy not a transcription when you go for it:

You can also go to the National Archives online or better still go visit as it is an awesome place...
