Am researching the family of Andrew Scott and Elizabeth Bell (married 1875 at Gretna) who lived at Priohill, Canonbie between 1871 and 1891. I would welcome any information on their parents and any of their children.
Thanks

Have you seen this site?
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
It is pay per view site bgut you do get the full certificates - they cost about £1.00 plus the search fee about 20p.
You buy a session for £6 = 30 credits, 1 credit to see a search and 5 to see a cert.
On the 1875 cert you would see both bride and grooms parents including mother's maiden names. It will tell you if they are deceased etc.
This will help locate them on the various census. 1851 is online for Dumfriesshire for free...

In your session it is very likely you can go back a couple of generations so it is worth the money (in my opinion).
