Hi there
Any help in looking for Mark Dicks Mills would be greatly appreciated.
The info i have so far:
Mark Dicks Mills b. 1821 Wiltshire. m. 1853 (unsure of where) d. 12 June 1898 Bowling alley Point, NSW Australia.
Louisa Rhoda Ward b. 1834 (unsure of where) d. 25 Oct 1888 Woolomin NSW Australia.
I'd like to know if shes from Wiltshire too.
I have Mark Dicks Mills Fathers name as George .
Any help on full name of marks parents and where he was born, when he came out to Australia and whether or not he had family out here already would be greatly appreciated.

found a christening for a mark dicks mills 23 march 1822 at longbridge deverill,wiltshire.
parents were mark and lydia.

I've accessed the Births, Deaths and Marriages for NSW Australia and it said Marks Dad was George - but it may be the wrong Mark. It also had no listing for his mum.

I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction to find more about marks parents - like birth date, their parents, Siblings of Marks and siblings of his parents etc. Is there places on the net i might be able to find this out?
I'm doing as much research as i can without having to pay for it at the moment.

You could try and see if anyone can find them in the 1841/1851 census.the 1851 would give age and place of birth and the 1841 would give age and would say born in county or not.
you could then try parish records of birth place.

Also - in the 1851 census - when it says DEAF - is that an abbreviation or does that mean he would have been deaf?

An Ag Lab is the shortened form of agricultural Labourer or common farm labourer and by far the most common occupation of our ancesters
and Yes when it says Deaf that does mean the man was deaf. Possibly to do with his Naval Service. A Greenwich Pensioner is a Naval Pensioner The Greenwich hospital was opened in the late 17th century You may find this of interest.

Hi Nat Here are some baptisms to John and Elizabeth Dicks Longbridge Peverell Wiltshire...Might pay you to order in the parish records for Longbridge Peverell and see what is in them. You can order them from your local LDS library for a very small charge to cover postage. It usually takes them a few weeks to get them depending on where they may be. They give you a ring and let you know they have them and they keep them for about 3 weeks to give you plenty of time to get in to the library and examine them. This is all that is listed on the IGI
