Hi, Im trying to find a WILLIAM PHILPOTT who was born c1854 and there is some confusion as to  whether he actually travelled with his family to NZ on the Scimitar which would have arrived in 1854. He is listed on the transcription of the passenger list but I would like to see the original to make double sure as something in the family history doesnt 'add up'. thanks
His parents were William and Mary Ann Philpott

don't you mean 1874 ???

Mike the person who has done this transcription has a hyperlink to his email address on the above page...he's obviously done a lot of work on this voyage and could no doubt show you original documents

I came up with 1874 also after searching Papers past  :) so I tried this.

google>>  New Zealand shipping passenger manifest search

Philpot with (1 T) 46 of them or in shipping box type Scimitar

not the original hard to read list but a transcribed version.

Hi Kiwianna,
Good one  :) I found one of my families. Do you know if they will extent the dates,( I'm interested in 1907)

Otago, 1874 , Scimitar. Philpot family page 6

See Papers past for Philpot BDM's

I think they were only listing up to a certain time period.

I was researching one of my other families (Parry) who came out after 1900 and I found their details on another site, I'll read back thru my research and get the link for you.

re Philpot..I saw a family on there but I couldn't see a William mentioned.

I must be going blind...lol

That other passenger link list is http://www.ancestorsonboard.com/

It's a paid site but i managed to work out what ship my ones were on because i knew they were travelling together so was able to find a match for year and once i found the year was able to work out which ship and found a free passenger list for it

Ah yes, I used Ancestors on board for my family from Scotland, but had lost the link and couldn't remember the name.

Meanwhile I have had fun with Family Search today. Found 3 of my early settler families, so I don't care if it rains tomorrow will be searching for more.  :) :)
