Can anyone tell me where an unmarried mother would give birth in Alnwick about 1920.
-
Hi
Almost anywhere. At parents /relatives/friends home or other establishments etc etc. If you know the childs name - the birth cert will give the place of birth
-
Sorry...I didn't make myself clear. I meant an institution ie. work house.
-
There was a workhouse in Alnwick
http://users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouse/
Click on Workhouse locations on the left hand menu
Then click on English Poor Law Unions and scroll down to Northumberland and select Alnwick

The address I have is 1A Wagonway Rd. From the link you gave it looks as though this could be the Workhouse. What an interesting site this is. Thankyou....Just going back for another look.
