Have you looked for them on the 1911 census - Joseph would have been over 30 by then and Maggie 25 and possibly married
USING THE FREE 1911 INDEX
http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx
Once you find the right person - make a note of the county and district in which they were living
Return to the index and in PERSONAL DETAILS - just put the surname of the family - nothing else
In LOCATION - Select the county and below it - type in the district
In OTHER MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD - show the name of the person you have found on the index
Click SEARCH

Hello, North Wales bmd 1911. A Joseph Hill married Mary Hill or Annie Jones in a civil marriage in Hawarden :-\
Paul.

Hi Paul
I have looked on that site but I have no idea of her first name so either could be right I have asked my Mum but she only remembers meeting them once when she was young so knows that the sons were older We know nothing at all about Maggie I have looked to see if there is a young death for her but cant find one so chances are she married
Sorry I have no more

There is a marriage for a Margaret Hill to John L Wood in Bisrte 1904. I could check that for you next time I'm at the archives

thanks Paul that would be great I have been thinking if Joseph ended up living in Port Sunlight he may have married someone from there so could have married in her town or parish I am going to question my Mum again on the sons and see if she can remember

Hi Thank you so much for todays information
The other son Thomas in 1911 is my Grandfather
I see you found another sister Martha again I know nothing of her
My mother can remember William so I know of his two marriages and daughter
Peter died in 1888 and as far as I know did not marry someone in the family died when struck by lightening in the fields so that could have been him
She remembers Joseph and his sons but cant remember their names as she was quite young
It would be great to find Josephs family his sons may have carried the name on my grandad only had daughters and so did his brother James
Thanks again Carolyn

Continued
I have found a death registration for Peter Hill, registered 1899 at Chester.(He was still alive in 1891, so could not have died 1888 )
Cannot be certain about Maggie / Margaret, as there are so many.
Martha Hill was a 17 year old Domestic servant, at the home of Thomas and Sophie Linekar
14 Drummond Road, Hoylake cum West Kirby, Cheshire.
Martha married John Molyneux later that year. They settled at Pentre, Hawarden , and had three sons. John in 1903, Samuel in 1905, and Norman in 1908.
Hope this helps

Carolyn......
Is there any way, that your mum has got things mixed up a bit ?
I am sure that the Army Service records, for Joseph are the correct ones and that he married Hannah Hill in 1907. I have searched , searched and searched again, and cannot find this couple in the last census......
I have , however, found a death registration for a Joseph Hill, born 1878, died 1910, Registered at Wirral. This is the registration district for Port Sunlight......
Will PM you

Hi Carolyn,
Joseph Hill was my grandfather, he married his cousin Hannah Hill and they had one son, also Joseph.
He served with the Irish Rifles and passed his certificates as a telegrapher. He married my grandmother in 1907, my father was born in 1909 and sadly Joseph senior passed away in 1910.
