Hi Harold,

Do you know your mother's maiden name and birthdate?
If she was Violet Kathleen Carroll then I think I can track the family including Patrick. If you can confirm this and make a few posts so we can talk via private messages, that would be best as some of the info includes people who may be living.

Okay, for a start if you go to http://www.1911census.co.uk/ you can find the family in 1911; there seem to be these children other than Violet (also their mother, Rose), including a Patrick:

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ is a good place to look for their births, marriages, and children. I won't list the possibles (one more post I think and you can use private message) as quite a few of their children are probably still alive, but for an example:

Patrick's birth is listed as "Patrick James A. Carroll" and his marriage as "Patrick J. A. Carroll" (in 1923), to Martha Bridgland.
If you search for births, and put surname Carroll and mother's maiden name Bridgland, you will see the births of their children (including Georgina and Francis).

If you are hoping to make contact with relatives you might try writing to local newspapers.

I have been researching the Carroll family of Ballyduff Ireland. My great grandmother was Ellen Carroll whose parents were Michael Carrol a farmer and Ellen Driscoll. Ellen Carroll was born in Ballyduff c 1848 and came to Melbourne, Australia on the Zenobia in 1869. Her younger brother John came to Australia later. She met up with her cousin Mary Carroll born c 1849 and whose parents were  Daniel Carroll and Bridget O'Flaherty, Daniel was a blacksmith and also a farmer.. Mary also had a brother Edmund  born c1858 also also came to Melbourne Australia. Mary came to OZ on the White Star in 1867

Mary Carroll married William Cunningham at Echuca in Victoria in 1871 and they settled at a little place at Coree in the Riverina of NSW outside Jerilderie, where they ran a Stage Coach changeover on the Deniliquin to Melbourne run called "The Change" They had 6 children and my great grandmother helped with the children and chores.
My Great Grandfather Daniel Horgan arrived in Coree and was the storekeeper. He was born in Co Kerry Ireland in 1837 the son of Patrick Horgan a farmer and Margaret Ryal. They married in 1879 had 2 sons and Daniel died in 1881.

Edmund Carroll married Julia Isabella Cunningham in Richmond Victoria in 1888. A Carroll brother and sister married a Cunningham brother and sister.

I have so much information on the Australian side of their lives and the Carroll and Cunningham families  but have hit brick walls on the Irish heritage. Have photographs and certificates to verify citations.

Would appreciate any feedback on the Carrolls in Ballyduff and Horgans of Kerry.
