Title: Bailie/Bailey family
Post by: nikolabailie on Monday 07 June 10 11:09 BST (UK)
I am looking for any info about the Bailie family, they were from Corhelshinagh, some are buried in Corlea churchyard.

I am wanting information on Joseph Bailie who married Mary Maginnis in 1879, his father is William Bailie.

Joseph and Mary had 4 children, William John, who is in Ballybay 1911 married to Susan.

Joseph married Agnes Chambers in 1931

Alice Maria 1884 and Martha 1887 we have nothing on these, we were told that Alice "went missing" never to be seen again...

Any help appreciated...

William John, (trader/merchant) who is in Ballybay 1911 married to Susan Martin, d/o  John  Martin, Ardvara, Belfast married on 30th June 1910 in Corlea Pres. Church. witnesses John  Martin  +  Martha Bailie, this looks like it might be some of them on 1901 census... http://www.rootschat.com/links/08uy/

Just from some notes on Martins that someone sent me, very common name in area. Susan looks as if she came from Corlea seeing as how she married there. Martha is there as witness, Alica may have been "written off" if she married out of her religion or even if she married someone "not approved of" by her father.

If John was in Belfast maybe there might be "discoveries" there..

John Snr or Jnr? I have found a family in Monaghan on the 1901 who could be them, 2 Johns and 2 Susans, bizarre!

Anyway, as for the 1911, Susan is a widow so John Snr must be dead or...... he did a runner with 25yr old Alice ha and she said he is dead as far as she is concerned.

Do you actually have anymore info and just giving me a push in the right direction?

I was talking about Susan Martin, d/o  John  Martin, Ardvara, Belfast... could Susan's sisters be there in Ardvara?

The Martins I was after were a Sarah Anne born 1820's. and Margaret Martin born 1820's who married 2 brothers and I'm not sure yet if they were sisters!

As for info, that is all I have, as I say, there are too many Martins to try to sort them out but others here may know the Martin lines and be able to help. Bailie's I know very little about as I don't have Bailies in my tree so far...

I don't have copy of marriage, just a church record someone sent me.  Sarah Ann and Margaret were from Newbliss/Kileevan area but don't waste time looking for them as I can get all this data from relatives next time we meet.

Have left this side of tree until we get time to do it properly from family bible thingy! :D

Some of the Baillies from Castleblayney area are distant relatives of mine.  Can anyone help me with William Baillie, wife Alice Brown whose daughter Charlotte Moss Baillie married ?? in Castleblayney in 1913.  I have her living with her widowed mother, Alice and sister Mary  in Dumaliss in the 1901 census.
