Wondering if you know where 'Flood's Mount' is. Carcoar is within the parish of Errol. The 1884 parish map (attached) shows a large property belowing to Edward Flood. This section of the Belubala River is now Carcoar Dam. However Flood's Mount would still exist, on the south eastern side of the dam wall.
In Sept 1863 three members of the Ben Hall gang bailed up travellers on the main road near Blayney. The gang members would later stick up three young men on Flood's Mount.
I'd be keen to find the exact location of this place. Maybe some old time locals are aware of Flood's Mount. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I was wondering if anyone has any additional information over the past years since this was posted.
Like you I am trying to trace the death of James Flood who settled in Carcoar with father James and Mother May or Mary McCabe. I have Catherine his wife who died in 1891 and is describe as a "married woman" indicating her husband is alive (not widow). She died in Lyndhurst. I have the James that died in 1887 at Balmain but the children are not correct, his age is 10 years out, his mother is close to being corect, his wife is close to being correct but the problem is it is filled out by his grandson of 17 years of age! And the Sydney Morning Herald of the day says his wife is either Jane or Bridget (which I haven't worked out yet)
Any help would be so greatly appreciated

I still haven't been able to find James Flood death certificate. the certificates I have do not match up. your sounds closer what are the children's and grandson names? on your certificate the mother's name Ann could be Mary Ann which matches up. does it say were he was born.I make James born about 1810.

The death cert for the James I have been following died in 1887 of Abbattoir Road, Balmain. He was a butcher, his father was James Flood, a Miller and mather is Ann McAbe. It is certified by William Sydney Michael Gowan, grandson of Balmain. He was born in Ireland and 33 years in NSW. He was married in Ireland at age 17 years to Catherine Hyland. BUT children ae Michael 43, Rose 40, Mary 38, Maggie 34, James 30 living. All males deceased. James was 67 years old on death but should be 77 if born 1810
My theory is the grandson got his uncles and aunties confused but it is only a theory and not based on fact. Do you have any records of the children of James and Catherine and who they married?
I agree James born 1810

Hi pmur
I only have John's marriage certificate and it has very little information on it
he married Sophia Matilda Coyle on 6/6/1865 in Roman Catholic Church, Mudgee N.S.W
John's occupation was a carrier, residence near Cassilis
Sophia residence Pipe Clay both parents not listed
Theory for James. there was on 5/1/1877 a John Flood found dead in the bush at Bobbialla Creek, near Merriwa Which is not far from Cassilis
aged about 70 from Ireland children and spouse not known where was a enquiry into his death registered on 10/1/1877 was held at Cassillis but not sure ??? death rego. no.04668/1877
do you have any certificates to share?
