im trying to find out what my granddad (SGT William john (jack) aiken)did in WW2. He was in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment but not sure what bat or his number. He dies about 18 years ago so i never got to ask him any questions. and my nana is not very "with it" now and cannot remember much. If anyone could point me in the right direction or has any information i would be very greatful.

i have since found out that it was the 1st battalion he served in. and was in the last 2 years of WW2. and he was born in 1927 July 21st

Someone may put me right here, but I think I'm right in saying that those records may be subject to 100 year closure order.
Have you contacted the museum archive to see if they can help with general information about the battallion?

I understand you have to contact the Veteran's association to request specific details of service record for that era. There's a fee involved (£30) and you may have to prove your relationship to him before they'll disclose anything.
