Title: William Philps - b1806
Post by: hoops on Thursday 03 June 10 17:03 BST (UK)
Hi. I'm hoping someone out there can help me.  I am trying to trace the baptism record of William Philps, born in 1806 in either Liss or Hawkley (the birthplace is contradicted on census records).  I believe he was the son of Thomas Philps (1781-1869) and Ann Batchelor (1783-1841) but I can't find conclusive documented proof.  William married Jane Collins in Headley in 1835 and died in 1862.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a baptism of a William Phelps, son of Thomas & Anne, in Hawkley on 24 March 1806.

This isn't necessarily conclusive either, since the mother's maiden name is not included.

Hi Nell.  This is great, thanks for the information. Although, as you say, it is not conclusive it looks a likely candidate. What is the source of the information?
Thanks again  :)
