Title: Armstrongs of Butterburn Farm
Post by: castlebob on Thursday 03 June 10 12:59 BST (UK)
Hello All,

I have info on a John Armstrong bapt 12 Apr 1749 - born at Butterburn Farm, Cumbria. He died 2 Apr 1829 at Hindley Steel Farm. I gather he wed a Jane Carrick on 30 Dec 1778.

Can anyone confirm this info, ignoring any LDS member entries if possible, please.

Many thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob

Would your John Armstrong have any connection to William Carrick and Catherine Armstrong? They had a daughter Catherine christened 1772 at Bewcastle.

I suggest there is a Butterburn farm in Gilsland Northumberland, also Hindley Steel Farm appears to be in Northumberland.

Perhaps you could try putting a message on  Northumberland county (if you haven't already done so).

Regards Anaka

Hello Anaka,
I haven't delved too deeply into that lineage as I was searching on behalf of someone else. For that reason, I was only looking at father-to-son relationships so wouldn't like to guess about Catherine.
Thanks for your response.
Best wishes,
Bob

Hi,
The Bishops Transcripts for Haltwhistle,Northumberland have a marriage for John Armstrong and Jane Carrick on the 30 Dec.1778. Both of this parish. The record is on image 51. If you search the transcripts you might also find the burial details.
