Hi there,
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I'm looking for an old map of Birkenhead, showing Stewart Street. I have googled the street and have come up with nothing, so I am assuming the road was demolished or built over.
Any help, advice or a point in the right direction is greatly received.
Many thanks

Hi
Think your name's a bit spooky, but Hi nevertheless.
I'm sure this is a good place to post. Can you give any clue as to where in Birkenhead Stewart Street was?

Haha it's a title of a song.
I have no idea. My great-grandmother is down on the 1901 census as living in Stewart Street in Birkenhead.
Sorry I don't have more to go on.

According to the 1900 directory Stewart Street was off Ilchester Road.

Stewart Street ran between Ilchester Road and Stanley Road, (A5088) to the south of Tyrer Street. You can see it on the 1910 map at http://maps.cheshire.gov.uk/tithemaps/TwinMaps.aspx.
If you go to http //www ordnancesurvey co.uk/oswebsite/getamap/ click "I want to get-a-map now" and put SJ297900 in the search box it will centre the map on the location.

Wow thank you very much. It's so sad to discover half the roads in Birkenhead that my ancestors were born on/grew up on have been demolished. Thank goodness for the old maps.
Thanks again.

I am looking for Byron Place in Birkenhead and all the links above don't seem to work. Any ideas where to look for that please? Thank you

You can see Byron Place on this map http://maps.nls.uk/view/102340990#zoom=6&lat=8684&lon=10253&layers=BT off Watson Street, parallel to Beckwith Street.
There is also this map https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/331781/389169/13/100095 you will have to zoom out.
