Title: MILLER - Poole
Post by: dapike on Sunday 30 May 10 13:54 BST (UK)
I'm wondering if anybody is researching the family of W L MILLER and Sons of Poole.

If I'm right, this is the same family as William Louis MILLER who I believe married Rose GALLOP in 1895 and appears to be listed in the 1901 census at 104 High Street as follows:

William L Miller, head, m, 30, Pork & Provision Shopkeeper, Dorset Wareham
Rose Miller, wife, m, 27, Dorset Poole
Joy R Miller, daur, 4, Dorset Poole
William E Miller, son, 2, Dorset Poole

I've found the family in the 1911 census now, where they're listed as follows:

William Louis Miller, head, 40, Pork and Provision Dealer, Wareham
  Rose Miller, wife, 37, Poole
Ivy Rose Miller, daughter, 14, School, Poole
William Ewart Miller, son, 12, School, Poole
Frederick Lionel Miller, son, 7, School, Poole
Leslie Stuart Miller, son, 2, Poole
John Keith Miller, son, 1, Poole
Elsie Stone, servant, 16, General Servant, Poole

There also appears to be a daughter Olive G born in Q4 1913, but I haven't yet found more recent details of the family.

Hi David
Pretty sure that Leslie S Miller went on to have a Chemist and Photographic shop in Poole and was a son of W L Miller that had the factory at Sterte. Also had the Dolphin Hotel in Poole - now under the shopping centre. Can possibly find out a bit more if you are interested as I know someone who worked for him.

Spiderboy:  thanks for the info about Leslie S Miller.

As it happens, since posting my original query I've managed to get in touch with a member of the family who has been quite helpful.
