Can anyone help, I am trying to track down information on an ancestor that ran/owned a shop in Liverpool. The store I think was called Onions General Store and was probably located on Smithdown Road. I am not too sure of the time period but would think it was between 1920 and 1930's.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
don't know anything about Onions but notice u have Edwards in your family history. My Edwards lived in Llay, North Wales and Wrexham, (still do). they then came from the Bala Lake region, (Meirionithshire).
any connection

Hi and welcome to rootschat ;D
Email the Local Studies Library which will be part of the local library in Liverpool and put your question to them.
Let us know how you get on please :)

Scouse_mouse, as Charlotte said, welcome to Rootschat.
I don't know if you have any subscriptions to search sites but one famous one (begins with A) does have a section giving UK Street Directories. I just did a very basic search, Onions, Lancashire and a long list of Kelly's Street directories came up.
A lot were clearly Manchester rather than Liverpool, and you would need to sit and trawl right through but it might be worth considering?
p.s. the search is often of the business man/woman's name rather than the business, so I searched 'Onion' but you presumably have their surname - good luck

Maggie, many thanks. I do not subscribe to the A website but our local libarary does, so will pop down there in the week.
