We have Joseph WITKISS a boat captain b 1856 d 1907
He married Mary Jane WOOD (not found the marriage)

Children John b 1891
Joseph b 1894 d 1896
Charles b 1896
Emily b 1898
Joseph b 1900
William b 1902
James b 1907

We have them in 1891 but cannot find them in 1901
Can anyone help ?

For what it is worth can find a Joseph Witkiss marrying a Mary Jane Cooper in 1882 in Wolverhampton but not a Mary Jane Wood.

We have a certificate for Joseph WITKISS marrying Mary Jane THOMAS in 1889

Not having any luck finding his marriage to Mary Jane Wood, the name was taken from Joseph's birth certificate in 1900

William Witkiss married Evelyn Ellen Oaks 1952  they lived at 59 crescent road E1939llesmere port Cheshire do you know if William witkss is still living.  Evelyn died 1999 but was still living at this address. 
father of William was John witkiss
I dont have the Birth of William and don't know if there were any family

this was Evelyn s second marriage she married doherty in 1939.
 i am related to her as her father gideon oaks was my uncle.

William Witkiss was born 11th June 1929, died 6th April 1998. I am in touch with his daughter Cathryn (Cathy), as genealogist and historian in Ellesmere Port. Gideon Oaks was not Evelyn's father. Joseph Witkiss bapt 20 Nov 1853 at Wolverhampton st Mary s of Edward and Emma boatman Southampton St .GRO gives mother's maiden anme as Hughes.

And there is a Chelsea pensioner entry for him on Ancestry leaving the Army in 1879.

Children John and Sarah Ann bapt at st Mary 21.9.1892 of boat Nellie
Joseph 29.9.1894 same boat

Edward Underhill 33 Master of boat Taffordshire
Emma 25 Master's wife Staffordshire
Sarah 10 Master's daughter Staffordshire
Joseph 7 master's son Staffordshire
Joseph 5 master's son Staffordshire
Edward 2 masters son Staffordshire

previous census gives Edward unmarried boatman 24 born Womborne. Cresent Wharf Birmingham
1841 Tardebigge
bapt Womborne 11.4.1825 Edward s of Stephen and Sarah Underhill boatman Ovendale.


The change of name may explain the problems you are having finding Joseph and Mary Janes marriage.
