The good people on the US board found this information on my husband's grandmother. Can anyone find more about her parents, in particular where John Grant came from as I too have Grants in my family. Where he is buried in Canada would also be helpful.
Thank you.

Georgina's parents might not have emigrated. Have you checked Scotland's People for their marriage and her birth and their possible deaths?
Ina Grant, b. 1891 Scotland, 21, single, travelled on the Teutonic from Glasgow arriving 13 May 1912. Her destination was Montreal, Quebec under the sponsorship of Mrs. Francis as a domestic worker. This link explains a bit about the society

Orin held the following land

Map to locate the land - townships are north to south and ranges east to west. His land was southeast of Drumheller. He held 1 section or 1 square mile.

This newspaper article on Orin shows him living Fork Lake, Alberta which is northeast of Edmonton or west of Cold Lake, Alberta. Actually quite a distance from Edmonton.

Thank you, Sandra. It has been a while since I looked at this site. Interesting to read that Georgina has two daughters. Lerna was my husband's mother but we have never heard of Bernice. Knew there was a sister, Bobby, who had disappeared at the start of WWII and believed there was one called Margaret. Did not know that my husband's uncle Orin was born in Montana. Thanks again for your information.

That was strange the reference on the USA record for Orin Harry Weir born Montana.
The 1921 Calgary East said Orin born Alberta.
There was a border crossing Canada to the USA - Port of Blaine Washington - for Bernice/Burnice Cooper Weir - al Hutchins born 1925 Hardesty Alta. Father Orin Harry Weir, Walnut Grove British Columbia. Last address 165 W Pender Vancouver British Columbia. Going to Frd G R Martin, Box 537, Marysville Washington.

I have to burst your bubble about the "John Grant" listed as father on Georgina's death registration.
Georgina's birth reg. lists her as Georgina Ross COOPER, illegitimate daughter of Margaret Cooper.
She was born 24 Nov 1890 in New Pitsligo, Aberdeen. Margaret was a domestic servant. The address is too faded to read. There is no repudiated father listed. Although her middle name was transcribed as Ross, it could be read just as well as Rose.
Georgina shows in the 1901 Census with Margaret and stepfather Francis GRANT in Gilcomstin, Aberdeen, RD St Machar. It shows both Georgina and Margaret as born in New Pitsligo.
There is a marriage of Margaret Cooper to Francis Irvine GRANT in 1899, RD St. Machar.
After digging the above out of Scotlandspeople, I could find a tree on Anc. that lists Margaret as Margaret Clark Cooper, 1870 - 1929, and the daughter of George Cooper and Ann Corbet. I have NOT confirmed any of that.
So while the father may have been a John Grant, it's just not in the paper trail.
If you would like a copy of her birth reg. for your records, pm me an email addy that I can send to.
In case you don't already have it, Georgina's death record is online at:

I guess the good news is that your probably aren't related to your husband!

There was someone of that name (Bernice Hutchins) listed on Canada Voters Lists living in York Scarborough Ontario 1953/1972 ???.
Did you think that Bernice was linked to the name "Bobby" or was that another sibling ? You might have found more on her in this 12 years since this thread was raised ?
Strange Lerna (unless she was referred to as the sister in New Zealand ?) or Bernice were not listed in the obit for Orin in 1975 - Lerna didn't pass until 1987 ??
