Title: STANLEY, Liverpool
Post by: AlanOnTheWirral on Thursday 27 May 10 18:11 BST (UK)
Other than Stanley Park,  was or is there an area called Stanley.?
I'm transcribing some Banns Registers for West Derby and this area pops up now and then but I'm not familiar with it.

Stanley still appears on modern maps - ie - http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Images/tcm21-96588.pdf - as part of Old Swan ward.

There was also a 'Knotty Ash and Stanley' station on the old Cheshire Lines route, &  Stanley Stadium (speedway, dogs, Rugby League etc).
Stanley is the family name of the Earls of Derby who probably held/hold land in this area, amng others.
