FLETCHER Catherine Martin Luther 1842 Port Phillip
Reel 2144, [4/4814] Page 215
The above record has been digitised -

Any of the birth registrations to this couple from 1856 in Victoria will detail the parents' ages and places of birth. Do you have any of the birth certificates of children to this couple? The records to 1852 are transcribed parish records and will not give all the detail that is required on registrations post civil registration.
Does Catherine's death certificate give you any information?
You can purchase and immediately download from
https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=purchaseImage
If you need any registration numbers, just ask and I or someone else will type them up for you.
Once you have her place of birth you could search
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true
I suggest you modify the heading of your request with the spelling of John's surname. All the records appear to be TOMBS including his criminal record in England. You have TOOMBS, TOOMS and TOMBS in your request.
Cheers

Hi I have just joined, and found your post - I am also trying to locate records of these two people, Their daughter Ada Elizabeth is my Great great grandmother. I have found a possible match for a Catherine Fletcher as a convict from Glasgow, arriving in van diemans land convicted of, theft, habit and repute at Baxter's land Greenock Scotland. Conviction date Sept 1831 - still can't find birth or marriage records

Hi Cathy and Carla
I am a descendant as well and have info on these 2. I have only just reconnected to Rootschat after a long absence and came across this query from a search on John Tombs. I am descended from their second son John Henry.
Catherine did arrive in Port Phillip on 9 Feb 1842 on the Martin Luther, departed 29 Oct 1841 from Cork Co. Ireland. She was one of 53 unmarried females, aged 21, a Protestant and house servant, who reads from Queens County Ireland. Sponsored by Mr J.B Were, there were 9 males and 2 females who died on the voyage.
Catherine was baptised on 17 Jun 1818 in Dublin to John Fletcher and Catherine Reilly.
Cheers
