Hi, we are trying to trace any relatives of our gt grandfather Davidson who died in a collision at sea in 1908. He was owner of a big fishing vessel which was sunk due to another vessel from Buckie plouging into it 50 miles from teh coast of Wick. Two weeks earlier he lost his 7 yr old son who drowned in the harbour. His 2 (or 3) brothers surived the fishing vessel crash. His widow moved to Glasgow with her family to start a new life , one daughter of which was Anne who was my Grandmother. She also gave birth to a new baby 7 months after losing her husband. She sounded like an amazing woman to survive losing a young son, her husband within a month then finding she was expecting a new child as a widow.
We have bit more of a family tree but not much on our Gt Grandfathers surviving brothers.....any of this ring a bell with anyone?

Hi Meggles
It would probably help if you added a little bit more details. Full names of your great grandfather and when and where he was born. Also, if you have details from his marriage cert, the names of his parents. This sort of information will help if someone is doing general searches on google for example as it will bring this post up on the results. Or, hopefully, someone here on RC now may recognise some of the names and dates/places from their own research :)
Your great grandmother certainly seems to have been a survivor - what a dreadful period in her life it must have been.

Hi Meggles,
I have Davidson's born Peterhead, from 1790's onwards. The family were seafaring. If you post up some details, I could cross reference and see if we have any in common?
Best wishes, Jimmijam
