Hi
I have an ancestor called John Todd, who I believe was born in Newcastle in 1789. He married someone called Elizabeth, who I know nothing about. I would love to find out Eliazbeth's maiden name and any other details possible about her parents.
Likewise, if anyone knows anything about John Todd's parents I would be very grateful.
The pair of them had a son called Richard Todd, born in Stockton in 1816, who is my great, great, grandfather.
Here's hoping someone can help me...
Cheers
Chrissie Crowther (nee Todd!)

Hi Chrissie
As has been said on here before, the trouble with Newcastle is that it consists of 4 ancient parishes plus countless others that have sprung up since.
I think it will be the four original ones which you will need and bishop's transcripts of these can be found here

All Saints, St. Andrews and St. Johns are in the Northumberland section but for some unknown reason St. Nicholas is listed under Durham.
You will have to work through page by page but can shortcut to image numbers which might be closer to the year you want.
Hope this helps

Many thanks for that! I've already had a quick look at the link - it's really interesting and obviously warrants some time spending on it!
Cheers
