Title: Cain Family of County Galway
Post by: sarabeth on Saturday 22 May 10 21:26 BST (UK)
Hello,
I am seeking information regarding the parish/townland of one Patrick Cain from County Galway.  He arrived in Boston, Massachusetts on or around 12 June 1851(according the citizenship papers).  He gave his birthdate as 4 April 1836 in Galway.  Once in America, he resided in Roxbury, Massachusetts(outskirts of Boston).  I believe that he had a brother named Andrew.  His father was listed as James Cain...I don't know his mother's name...
Anyone with any suggestions, info or connections??

Thanks...

Sara Carroll

The name Keane is pronounced Kane or Cain in Galway area. Maybe it was changed (like many others) on arrival in U.S.A.  There are many Keanes in Galway.
