note that the son Anthony is now a stepson....his surname may help in finding the marriage of his parents,,,but having looked at the original scan,,his surname may be eldean,,or even something else...maybe other rootschatters could give their opinion.

You have been a busy bee. Small contribution Joseph Rudd was buried at Egremont Cemetery 10/7/1890. Age 68. Section F Uncon 115 and Sarah 17/3/1892. Age 64 years. F Uncon 145 Both had lived at Smithfield. :(

Isaac Rudd born 30 June 1833 is also buried at Egremont Cemetery.
Section H Con Grave 358 16th Oct 1870. :(

Isaac RUDD was both my Great (Daughter married Henry BOWES) and Great Great (daughter married Edward PULLIN). Does anyone know what he died from at 37? Or the surname of his wife Esther, born at Gosforth. Esther married Christopher TYSON after Isaac's death
-
Isaac Rudds parents were William RUDD and Mary CASTLEHOW

The Reference to "Wholass" in the 1841 census is a "Wall House" with a Cumbrian accent!!
Isaac Rudd, b 1833, died at Main St, Egremont, 13th October 1870, the cause of death being "an aneurism of the abdominal aorta". He was an Iron ore miner.

Hi,
The Rudd children mentioned in this post were born at Whole house in the Hensingham chapelry of the Parish of St.Bees.
It would appear that William & Mary moved on to Haile [1823] and then Arlecdon - Ratten row [1824 - 1828] where they seem to have had more children.
It would also seem that William was not born in the immediate surrounding areas.

Thanks I'll check that out. In subsiquent census returns, the residence is named as Wall House.

Hi all.
Whilst googling different family names I came across my own posting...
I don't seem to have got notifications for this thread which is quite unusual as I've had no problems before.
hbowes, after some looking into the family I thought that maybe the children born to William and Mary in the 1820s/30s were maybe a different generation possibly their son's children, rather than theirs. Or is Mary Castlehow, William Rudd Snr's second wife?
If I'm right, my ancestor's (John Glover Rudd) mother was Mary Glover, which would obviously make sense. The thing that threw me off was the marriage between William Rudd and Mary Harrison. If my research is correct, Mary Glover was married to Thomas Harrison before marrying William Rudd.
Is this what you have?
I am so sorry I have not seen your postings before, and I really hope you're still around on this site.
Thank you, pckl :)

Hi bluenose, looks like we're relatives!
I don't know much about William, but I do have some things on Mary.
Mary was a Glover born in 1784 to Alexander Glover and Elizabeth Benn.
Mary was first married to Thomas Harrison in 1804, who died not long after their marriage. In 1809 she married William Rudd. I'm not sure if Thomas Harrison and Mary had any children, so that's something to check out!
