Title: William ROBERTS - Ballarat, Victoria

Could some-one be so kind as to do a look-up  please & give me a date of marriage  for one William Roberts & any children if possible.
William was one of the Cornish miners who discovered the "Welcome " nugget and he died in Ballarat in June 1918, but I can find no information about him.

The scant information I have :
Father -  James Roberts b 1804 Constantine, Cornwall, England
Mother -  Elizabeth Oliver b: 1802 in Ruan Minor, Cornwall, England

WILLIAM ROBERTS b 1837 Constantine, Cornwall  immigrated to Australia in 1857  and married Jenefer Trehair/ Trahar.

Do you have the death certificate for Wm ROBERTS?  There are three Wm ROBERTS who died in 1918 - 2 years of age at Leongatha; 55 years of age at Williamstown and the following.  None match the details -

To all that replied to my request thankyou so much.
This is wonderful and I might add that it has also solved a mystery of one Uncle Oliver whom I had no idea of slotting into the family although I knew him as a child.  The Ballarat family is exactly what I was looking for.

Message for Cando - I just found Jenefer Robert's will in line and the children are mentioned  and they tie up !!!!
I do wish these Cornish folk would find some other names - I have encountered
 and proven at least eight " William Roberts" in the immediate family in the span of the last 200 years !!!!!

Ro I was actually asking about William ROBERTS death in 1918 as I can't see it, other than the one I listed in Victoria.  I haven't mentioned his children.  Do you know where he was buried?  Have you the death registration?  I only looked for it hoping to find his parents' names.

I got the wrong date from Family Search online - living in Queensland I have found that the library facilities for research are not as good as they could be.

I always treat submitted information found on familysearch with a great deal of caution.  I only search the extracted parish records and there are errors there as well as will occur in any paper based records that are transcribed.  

I will now climb down from my soap box ::)

Cando you are a marvel - thanks so much.
I really would like to know about Oliver Robert's family - there are so many stories that I got straight from the horses mouth so to speak. The Oliver I am talking about would have been born between about 1904 and 1910 - he told me on the phone that his grandfather was William so I am working on the premise that this was the William we are also talking about.
Oliver & my father grew up quite close. I cant find him and I am sure he too has passed.
This Oliver had three girls - Valerie b 1938, (d. 2008 )  Jean b 1943, and Judith about 1946 ( ? ). I know lots about the girls exploits over the years.
Oliver was  Schoolteacher, and I know that he lived in Ballarat when the girls were young. Last time I saw them was in about 1950 (? )

Had a search of the Geelong cemeteries and crematoria however only the ashes placements are on the database.  Of course they could have moved anywhere.  There are no deaths to 1985 for either Oliver R or Olga in Victoria.

Thanks Cando - from what I remember this would be about right.
Last time I spoke to Uncle Oliver would have been between 1985 and 1988 and I had forgotten that they had also lived in Geelong so you are right on he button - thanks so much. My father was born also in 1907 in Ballarat so it fits in.

Ro it is only information which is publicly available.  Can you recall where Oliver R was living between 1985 and 1988....I could search some cemeteries.

Hi again Cando - U dont know if you know Melbourne at all.

I know it was definitely a Melbourne suburb - but to tell you the truth I only THINK it was Doncaster way but this is not a great deal of help.
I lived in Mount Eliza at the time & it was way too far for me to find my way there.

Box Hill and Templestowe cemeteries would be the closest to Doncaster and neither have online burial records :(.
