Hi All,

Hope someone can help me out with a look-up. I'm looking for a George Petty born around 1815 in Dunmore, Co Galway. He was RC but other than that have little or no information until he arrived in Liverpool in the mid 1830's.

To start to investigate church records you need to know which Catholic parish in county Galway George was born and lived.

Some parish records for Co. Galway are available on the pay-website of the Irish Family History Foundation at - www.irish-roots.ie, but note records for many RC parishes only start in the 1830s

The Irish Times has maps of the various parishes, which also include dates available and location of records :
