Can someone please look up the following christening -
Harriet Freeman 6th January 1822 Odiham - Parents: Thomas and Diana Freeman
I am hoping Thomas is a mistranscription and the father is actually Francis.
In 1840 a Harriet Freeman marries Moses Sherred - her father on the certificate being Francis Freeman. In 1841 a Francis Freeman and wife Diana (of the right age to be her parents) are living next door to Moses and Harriet. However, there is also another Francis Freeman, of the correct age, in the area, with wife Lidia, so I am trying to work out which set of Freemans are her parents.
(on the marriage certificate her father's occupation is Labourer, which is the correct occupation for the one with wife Lidia, whereas the one living next door is a Sweep) :-\
Thanks for any help
Regards

If it is any help, they are living in the same house as Francis and Diana in 1841, not next door, so the odds are pretty high that they are her parents
These are the baptisms of the other children:
Parents: Francis & Diana,
FREEMAN, Job Baptised: 19 Apr 1818, Odiham
FREEMAN, William Baptised: 21 Mar 1820, Odiham
FREEMAN, Stephen Baptised: 06 Jun 1824, Odiham
FREEMAN, Diana Baptised: 19 Jul 1827, Odiham
FREEMAN, Kezia Baptised: 26 Jul 1829, Odiham
FREEMAN, Francis Baptised: 15 Jun 1832, Odiham
Harriet may not have been baptised for some reason, or more likely, simply not entered in the register. Entries were not always done at the time, sometime they were written in as notebook to be entered at a later date,l leaving plenty of scope for errors and omissions.
I should have added, that the baptism you have is probably the right one, simply the wrong name entered for the father.

Thanks for the replies, I feel better accepting Francis and Diana as parents now I've got second opinions!

Hi, just found your post.
Diana Freeman was a beneficiary of Job Bull's will dated 1845, little bit of confusion as to whether it was Diana wife of Francis, or her daughter.
I have lots of info on Diana Bull's family if you go down that route.

Hi,
Still digging around and found this so far...
I have a photocopy of the marriage register for Diana Bull and Francis Freeman. Odiham 1816 19th August.
Married by banns
Francis Freeman X
Diana Bull X
In presence of George Frankum X
Kezia Frankum X
Kezia was Diana's sister, George her second husband
Diana was one of 8 children of William and Rosamund Bull, chimney sweep. (Hannah, Stephen, Kezia, Jemima, Job, Luke, Kerenhappach and Diana)
William was son of Stephen and Anne Bull. Born Bradford on Avon about 1752, married Stratfield Saye 1771
Stephen born Bradford on Avon in 1730s, date not yet found, former soldier with Gen Skelton's Regiment of Foot
Razor and knife grinder in 1765 and 1776
Apprenticed to Joshua Woodward of Trowbridge? Or Bradford on Avon, broadloom weaver, but left after 4 years
Married Anne in Ludgate Chapel, City of London 1751
4 known children, William, Elizabeth, Catherine, Sarah
His father, possibly Paul Bull married to Catherine Gray 29 July 1733 in Bradford on Avon
Paul christened 2 June 1712 BOA, sister Miriam 1714 (might have married Jacob Bull, Broughton Giffard Wilts 1735 poss 9 children)
No further info on Paul at present.
Will let you know if I find any more.

Great info thankypu Amanda, are they your direct line too? Not found of my sons cousins on this side yet, I've read elsewhere that some of the ancestors on this side were Romany, do you have that info?
Thanks again
Catherine :)

Not direct, Diana Bull is my 4x great grand aunt, as described by family search
Yes. Travellers.
Kezia married two.
Stephen was travelling chimney sweep as were his children
Job was travelling chimney sweep, no children
Luke was travelling chimney sweep, his children marred Gregory, Ayres, Rampton, Hold, Gritt, Doe, Black
Romany and Traveller FHS is worth joining if you want to look further into these.
Diana's father was a traveller in that he was a knife and razor sharpener, but his family were weavers from Bradford on Avon
