Title: Bayley of Willaston Hall
Post by: Pamela M on Wednesday 12 May 10 20:00 BST (UK)
I would like to speak to someone who knows about the Bayley family of Willaston Hall near Nantwich, Cheshire.  My enquiry is about a will which may have been made between 1960 and 1980 by the Squire of Willaston.  Would it have been a Bayley or some other family?

Hi,
Not answering your specific question, but this may provide a lead. Claims upon the estate of Commander James Bayley, RN, of Willaston Hall, invited here in 1959: http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/41676/pages/2311

Regards

Hi Snowball

Thank you so much for that information.  The reason I was asking was for a friend.  Her father (now dead) received a letter from a solicitor about a claim on the estate of the Squire of Willaston.  Her father wouldn't have anything to do with it.  She has always wondered what was in the will.  Perhaps we will be able to solve the mystery of how he was connected if at all.

I have a hard copy family tree of the Bayleys. It shows many James Bayleys, the most recent of which are born 1857 and 1880 (the son). The latter is my great-uncle (or, the brother of my grandfather, if I don't have that term right). I believe I have his Times of London obit and found much more about him from the Chester Country records office. I believe I saw an auction book, listing what was being sold from the estate.
