Looking for information on William Stephen and Jane Duthie from Inverallochy. William stephen was born in 1793 and died in 1866. He married Jane Duthie in 1822. I am having trouble finding jane Duthies birth date and when she died but I think she died before 1858. Until I get this I am not sure if I have the correct parents for her. Thank you anyone who can help.

On the 1851 census - Jane is shown as aged 55 b Rathen Aberdeen

Thanks for that information. I will get a copy of that census. At least I will know round about which year to look at for her birth.

Hi
This is a submitted IGI entry - I believe Jean/Jane were often interchangeable in Scotland
JEAN DUTHIE Christening: 14 MAY 1798 Rathen, Aberdeen, Scotland
Father: ANDREW DUTHIE

Hi,if you go on scotlandspeople you'll be able to see her death certificate if she died after 1855. Her parent's names should be on it as well. The 1841 & 1851 censuses for Rathen are on www.freecen.org.uk ,no need to pay, it's free!

Jane died between 1851-1861 as she does not appear with William on the 1861 census

Thanks for all the help have been concentrating on my fathers side for the last few weeks and forgot to look back here. You were correct with the Jane and jean in the 1841 census she was known as jean. In 1851 they stayed at 17 Mid st. Inverallochy with Jessie age 22 my great grandfather John Charles age 20 William age 17 James age 12 Elizabeth age 9 and a grandson James Findlay. I was given a lot of information by a lady in Inverallochy for which I am grateful but I still haven't found a birth certificate or a death certificate. By the look of it she must have been born about 1796 and was definitely dead by 1858. I have put her father down as Andrew and her mother as anne Ritchie but I'm not sure if I am right.

Hi
Have you seen the reply by flst above. Could be worth giving it a shot

Have tried Scotlands People All the villages round about Inverallochy and there is nothing. Even tried under Duthie as I know some woman were buried under there single name and there is nothing.

There is one Jane Stephen buried in St Combs cemetery, in the same grave is a Barbara Stephen, and other Duthies. There's no death date. I found it on the website for the Aberdeen & NE Scotland Family History Society.
They have an index of monument inscriptions, which you can search. St Combs cemetery is south-east of Inverallochy.
