Hi,
I will be more than happy to find out if they have any of the St. Clare's Convent records for you.
If they do is there anything in particular you would like me to look for?

Hi Elizabethanne,
I would normally do this myself, as I visit Hawarden occasionally, but at the moment I'm tied up and can't make it till July.

I've been contacted on A******y by someone in the USA who's descended from one Thomas Brooks, born Whitford parish c1801 (1841 census), married Jane (possibly Jones), with children Thomas (age 8 in 1841), Samson (age 5) and 2 more children, one possibly called Apsalom or Ambrose. Thomas snr was a labourer and lived at Bonc Isa, near Tremostyn, in 1841.

If you can find anything on this family, I'm sure it will be most appreciated by our American friend.

Kind regards,
Tecwyn.

I have first cousins 3 x removed living in the States and I know how much they appreciate having their records looked up.
Cheers

Hi Liz,

Many thanks. I'm certain that Hawarden have the Parish Records on microfilm. Whether the information I've been given is correct, is another question!

Good luck with your own reaearch.

Tecwyn.

If its not too much trouble would you be able to see if you could find baptism's for the following children of Ann(e) and George Rice Price Parry in Holywell

Thomas Rice Price Parry born Quarter 4 1837
Owen Rice Price Parry born Quarter 2 1840           died: Quarter 1 1842
George Rice Price Parry born Quarter 4 1842
John Rice Price Parry born Quarter 3 1846
Evan Rice Price Parry born Quarter 4 1850

They lived in Holywell and I know that there is a collection of Holywell PRs at Hawarden but I'm not sure if it will be their chapel / church.

Only if you  have time though.

Thanks

Carole

Hi,
I will look if Hawarden are holding those records and if they are I will get as much info as I can on those names.

Cheers

Liz.

Regarding the Brooks family at Whitford, I've done a bit more searching online and found some baptisms on the IGI that show that they were Non-Conformists. One baptism at Mostyn and two at Newmarket; both places quite close to Whitford.

So unless you've run out of other things to do, I shouldn't spend too much time on this if I were you.

I've sent this new information to the States and am waiting for a reply.

Kind regards,
Tecwyn.

Thanks for that Tecwyn, I will look anyway but Hawarden unfortunately don't seem to have that many non-conformist records. If they are Methodist ones that can be even more of a problem unfortunately.
Have you tried searching through the FreeReg database? I know that they have had access to some North Wales records.

Take care
Liz

Hi Liz, are you still there?

I looked at FreeReg and the Mostyn chapel records have been transcribed. It states that the records are only accessible through the search page, but I can't find it! Doh! What am I missing? ???

Thanks for the web site address of FreeReg, Rol.

Have you been able to find anything of interest on it yet Tecwyn?

I do have some transcriptions of baptisms from Seion, Holywell (non-conformist) but cant find the Brooks family amongst them.

Re this message, I have checked my copies of Holywell St James up till 31/12/1840 and can not see baptisms for the two eldest boys, which would suggest the whole family were baptised elsewhere.

Thanks for the info Rah.

I haven't come across this surname myself so before I go to the records office I will search the census to see if I can get more of an idea of where they lived.

Thanks again
Liz
