hi
im trying to prove the impossible here.
the sisters of my ancestor charles turner ive not been able to find anywhere.
plus its been a while since i touched the research so im a bit rusty. moving house didnt help.
these girls all had common names so that makes things a little difficult.
so trying to prove that the marriages for them are the proper ones.
i have here
catherine mary turner born islington 1875.
so looking at marriages after 1891 when she turned 16.
ive found one in 1898 june quarter in edmonton where the family had been living at the time.
to either charles baskforth daniel (quite an unusual name here)
or samuel morley.
so are either of these men married to my catherine mary?
can anyone look them up in any of the census after that time to check on the age of htis wife to see if it is our girl.
ive found most of the rest of the tree except for these sisters. its very frustrating.
ive checked births after 1910 to see if there are any daniel/turner births or morley briths
for the first one there is just 2 unfortunately after the 1910 census
robert sep 1914 and lily jun 1917
for the morley one there are loads. too many to check on.
can someone help me solve this mystery.

HI there Kascon
What's her dad's name/job and which was the last census you found the family on?
Catherine Mary Turner married Samuel Morley on 19 June 1898 at St Michaels Wood Green- she was 22 and her dad was William a plasterer.
Is that your girl?
Carol

blast no it looks liek a fake.
doh. her father was charles
oh well back to the drawing board.
thats the problem im having
these girls are just too common.
not that they are common lol but their names are.
ive got
annie elizabeth born c. 1870 (even her birith is too common to look up)
louisa b. 1871
catherine mary b 1875
and ellen b 1882
there is a big gap in kids as there was a couple of girls born that didnt survive.
we have no idea what happened to these girls when they grew up.
so if anyone can help me. .....
ive been working on this family for some time now.
the problem is the timing is wrong as by the time they are adults then turner is a common name in london.

Can you give us the refs (or a bit more info) of where you have found the family in 1871/81/91?
-
It's not a fake ;D it's just that it's not the right family.
As Liz says if you can give us more info-dad's job and mum's name would help too.
I might be able to find some baptisms or marriages of the kids.

Mary is still in Islington with some people with the Turner surname.
Hope that helps
Carol
-
wow that is fantastic.
can you tell me the names of the people of the turner surname whom she is with in 1911. as thats her original surname they may be relatives that would expand the knwoledge i already have.
it may even be the link with the family tree i have been after. you see i can follow the family tree from ancestors down and from family knowledge up.
but just couldnt fill in this missign generation.
thank you so much
-
just realised. wow thats one hell of a age gap. i wonder if it was an arranged marriage. he beign of some distinction being a police constable
and there are kids.

then that is 5 kids she had then. stanley age 3 in 1901 mary i age 18mnths in 1901 may born in 1901 in 1911 census and kate ethel born 1905 in 1911 census. funny she should make that mistake. unless she didnt count alfred as he was still born or something.
i woudlnt mention it but she is in the census report.
karen
-
and if mary id exist and she was still alive and that it was indeed aflred that died wher eis she in 1911. she is a couple of years younger than stanley.
karen
-
May and Mary appear to be the same person.
A baby born 2 May 1900 should have been 10 months on the 1901 census- mayeb it was a mistranscription?
I've just given you May's DOB and her baptism date both in 1900.
The 4 births I have just typed out are the 4 live births she says she's had on the 1911 census and the one who died was Alfred- making it 3 still alive in 1911.
Carol
-
yes you are probably right.
ive found a marriage for kate ethel the daughter and a marriage for may which appears to be her name not mary. one to herbert bromige and the other to frederick neal. a birth for david bromige and two for girls to meal pamela and brenda. and as they are about the same age as my mum there is a chance that one or more are still alive.
also mum kate mary remarried herself to one arthur haigh in 1919 but looks like no more kids for her.
still the tree grows lol.

Karen
Take care when mentioning names of May's or Kate Ethel's children as she didn't marry until the late 1920's and they may still be alive- Rootschat do not allow names of those still living to be published on their message boards.
Carol
-
oh ok. sorry bout that.
ive got another one for you.
stanley marries in june quarter 1914 to someone called jones but... when i went in to the screen theres only 3 names and none of them are jones. so it appears theres a name missing on that page.
tried bulson jones births and theres one. stanley e in june 1915
mayeb stanley senior went to war.
karen
-
Look for the Jones lady the other way round- you know it's Portsmouth in June 1914- so put all that in and JONES- you will see that it was a Violet M Jones who married Stanley Bulson- then look at the image itself,by clicking on the glasses. You will find that it has been mistranscribed as 1136 and NOT 1136 which is the correct page number.
I have informed Free BMD of the error.
The fact that they married in Portsmouth in 1914 sort of suggests that he might have been in the Navy doesn't it 8)
Carol
-
yes your right it does.
guess what i just looked up younger stanely bulsons marriage. and guess what. he marries one muriel neal so maybe he married a sister of his brother in law
as his sister married a neal
-
just folowing up the neal bulson marriage.
in mar quarter 1935
ohoh
