Sorry I did not put any information but I was not sure I could get it to post. The picture is of a little boy whose age I do not know. Could he be about 7. The lady do you think she is in mourning and also would you think it was Father and daughter. If that is his wife she would be around 60 if the daugher around 34.

Yes, the boy could be about 7. The woman, I would say, is much nearer being 60 than 34.

There's no indication in this that it's a mourning photo.Although indistinct & pixellated the lady's fashion appears early 1900's & in her mid to late 30's I would say.The man looks in his 60's.It would be better if we could see the original if you have it.

This is a picture of either the lady in the above picture or her daughter. It would have been taken in 1904 could the boy on the end in the sailor suit be the same boy in the above picture or is it a different one. The above picture could have been taken in 1899.

Biddy, this is a little off topic I'm sorry, but do you know who that youngest child (I think it might be a boy ?) in the second photo is? It seems an unusual pose .... just wondering ....
-
I think it really does look like the same little boy and the same woman.

Hi biddy27

Not trying to be morbid or insensitive but the second photo looks like a post mort photo. The child on the stool(which looks like a boy) looks like they are dead. The pose and the way the hands are look wrong. Also the eyes look like they are fixed and not focusing on anything.

It's highly unlikely the 1st. picture was taken 1899.The lady is dressed in an Edwardian style of the early 1900's.It would help if we knew what it was,a cabinet card or postcard.

The little boy in the picture is Henry Pettie. Very much alive, although he does look strange but I have a picture of him later and he is fine.
The first picture was taken at a studio by William Ferris.
The lady in the first picture if she was the Mother of the second lady died in 1903 at the age of 60
The little boy or boys can either be half brother and brother or the same boy.

That was my thought behind the question about the little boy on the stool Annette. It's more the pose than the eyes. Looks like some of the other eyes have been 'enhanced' too. ;)

Hi Biddy and Ruskie, thank goodness its not a PM, I personally dont like them atall. Its just the thought of sitting there quite normally with a dead member of the family beside you, pretending as if they were alive.A bit creepy really :(
