Title: Corbett - Drum/Killynenagh
Post by: wdyw on Saturday 08 May 10 21:52 BST (UK)
Hi folks, trying to track down info on the parents of James Corbett (1862- 1947). Fathers name was William, mother was Mary Ann and James had a brother Francis. Can't find any record of the marriage or James's birth!

Any help gratefully received!

John

Since James was born before civil registration there will be no birth certificate so you'll need to see if church records exist. Depending on the family's religion there may or may not be a civil marriage certificate for the parents (registration of Catholic marriages from 1864, from 1845 for other marriages).

All Church of Ireland so hopefully the marriage certificate is out there ...somewhere! however, I've had no luck in tracking it down so far

Drum records are in Scotshouse, and there are Corbett g/stones there too.

Cheers Hallmark, I didn't know about the records being in Scotshouse.

Finally figured out the Griffiths Valuation maps. Managed to get back another generation on the face of it.
