I don't know if I have enough information for anyone to be able to look up anything relating to these folks, but if it's possible any hints anyone can come up with would be wonderful.
I'm looking for the birth of Joseph Nutt b. 1839 allegedly in Belfast County Antrim. His parents were James Nutt and Margaret Cox though I have no other info for them.
If there's any way to find their marriage or his birth or anything that might be remotely related I would be absolutely ecstatic.
It's worth looking out for his death also as he seems to have vanished from Scotland after the 1891 census and I wonder if he went back to Ireland.

I'd never heard the term 'selected Families of individuals' either. If you google the correct combination of terms you can often find information. I searched 'joseph nutt & helen lochhead' and found these to list just a few-

Civil registration of births in Ireland started 1864 so there will be no birth certificate for Joseph. To find a baptismal record for him (if it exists) you'd need to know both the family's religion and where they lived (parish if not actual townland or an area of Belfast). Unfortunately many church records before 1850s do not survive/exist.
Civil registration of Catholic marriages began 1864 and non-Catholic marriages from 1845- too late for Joseph's parents. Again, you'll probably need more details to see if any church record survives. Remember that marriages usually take place in the bride's church. Also, even if Joseph was born in Belfast itself the family could have moved there from outside the city.
Registration of deaths in Ireland also started in 1864. If Joseph died in Ireland after this date there should be a record in the index and then you could order a death certificate- although Irish certificates do not contain the same amount of information as Scottish ones. See www.familysearch.org

From 2 other threads about Joseph Nutt it looks as though he may have died in Canada:

Hi, it's me again, just popping in and still searching for the elusive info about Joseph :D Hope everyone is well.
While I have found that he went to Nova Scotia, Canada in the early years of 1900 I have still been unable to locate his death.
He went to Canada with his daughter Annie who was then married to an Archie Hutchinson.
on the 1911 census he is still in Canada and listed as Joseph Hutchins at which points he vanishes.
I don't know if he died there, went south to visit another daughter that had moved to Philadelphia, or went back to Scotland.
I can find no death records in any of those places and he is not on any of the later census' with his daughter in Philadelphia.
Some day I'll figure it out.
