My Ellis family resided in the Runcorn District from the 1700's into the late 1800's when the area became part of Lancashire England. I am hoping to share information and find maiden names of some of my female ancestors.
Given names for the men: Joseph, Samuel, Charles, John and James were passed on from generation to generation.
Other surnames linked with the Ellis families were: Ratcliffe, Hignett, Williams and LLoyd. Any help or direction will be appreciated. Thanks, Les

Just to say that Runcorn has never been in Lancashire :) Runcorn is in the county of Cheshire.
Stan (in Runcorn)

Les, I know that we have talked before, but can't remember what info I've given you. I have your Ellis family back to Samuel and Margaret Ellis and son, Joseph, bp 20 Jul 1800 in Frodsham. Joseph was a tailor and married Martha?. Children: Charles, John, Margaret, Samuel and Hannah.
Son Charles married Ann?. Charles also a tailor and lived in Weston. Children: John,, James, Sarah Ann and Joseph.
Joseph married Sarah Ratcliffe who was sister of my 2xGreat Grandfather, Thomas Ratcliffe.
Let me know if I didn't give you all this already.

Hi Les,
This can be solved very easily by getting one of their childrens Birth Certs.
This is the first Census they appear together on;
1851 Census
Overton, Cheshire
HO107/2164/619/22
Charles ELLIS, 29
Ann, 28
John, 3
James, 1
This is the only possible marriage I can find.
Marriage frpm FreeBMD;
Charles ELLIS, June 1846, Warrington, 20 837
On the same page is Ann WORRALL
1841 Census has a Ann Worrall age 15 ( 1841 ages were rounded) in Weston, Runcorn, Cheshire a Female Servant in the Sweetman household.
HO107/95/28/Runcorn
This is just a possibility.
You really need a childs Birth Cert to complete this for you.
Cheers,
Trish :)

Mary

garstonite hi allan,thanks for the reply. the info about garston struck a nerve. i got out my gf &gm marriage lic and my fathers birth cert. the marriage was in 1904 and b 1907. the listed addr on both documents was 97 st marys road garston. i did not know they moved from widnes to garston. b/4 coming to the us. the possibility of being related is strong as you said. if you could give me some dates and places on your gm i can try a trace. small world ? les

Alan, I have been helping Les with his Ellis family research and I am enjoying the exchange with the two of you. Is there a church/cemetery where the Ellis family buried their people? Did they have a family plot and does the sexton of the cemetery have a register for burials? If so, who would Les contact to get information on Ellis and other surname burials? Any chance you have a digital camera and could take pictures of grave markers and email them to him? Many times those grave markers offer genealogical information to connect to other family members. Thank you for your input and help! Marilyn

garstonite hi allan,sorry to have taken so long to respond. i was able to locate all your people. i have been trying to make family groups to try to get the connection between our families.then got sidetracted by personal problems. i believe the connection has to be somewhere between frodsham and garston. i have to leave home tomorrow for sandpoint idaho for a funeral and visit with my wifes 88 year old mother. expect to be gone a week. if all gets calmed down will hit the programs again. hope all is well with you. les
