Well I use PAF 5 which is a free download  and it is sufficient for my needs..

Whilst on this subject though... I wondered last night, how many people have put a lot of hard work on certain sites, regarding their tree............. without a 'hard copy' or a .n.other copy ..... and then either slipped off this planet or given up.....researching... It was just a passing thought...(morbid maybe.. but such a shame if all their work went to waste!)
So tell a close family member your passwords or whatever to make sure this doesnt get lost.. or leave it in your will?!?!

I  use Family Tree Maker as it is linked with Ancestry.   I am using the 2009 version, but there are up to date ones available.

I try to remember to back my tree up by importing it as a gedcom file to my computer.   This type of file is usually able to fit all family tree software and is compatible with Ancestry and GR which I use.

As a safe guard I also back it up on a memory stick, in case my computer fails.

Seems a lot of trouble to go through, but I don't want to loose all the work I have done!
