I'm looking to find out what happened to Doodys who emigrated from County Clare in Ireland in 1890's and 1900's to Chicago. Bridget Doody married John Daly and had at least 1 child, Maggie married Daniel Reidy and had 6 children, John married Bridget Daly and had 3 children, Patrick married Johanna Cleary and had 8 children and Andrew married Lillian Daly and had 3 children.
2 other Doody sisters returned to Ireland.

Hi Dettori,
Thanks for all your work. The family of John Doody and Bridget Daly is the second one you came across as John wasn't born until 1876. Margaret Kane was the first to go the Chicago and some of the others lodged with her when they arrived (e.g. Andrew). Her husband Martin died and she eventually returned to County Clare with her 3 children, none of whom married. Another sister (Anne Doody) also went to Chicago, but then returned to Clare and got married.

I am the first grandchild of Maggie Doody and Daniel Reidy. There were 18 grandchildren, more than 50 greatgrand-children.
-
My partner, Margaret, is a grand daughter of Michael Doody, younger brother of Maggie. Michael was the only one of the eight surviving Doodys of that generation to remain in Ireland, where he continued to run the family farm in Clondrinagh. His eldest sister, Mary, and her 3 children and her sister Anne returned from Chicago to County Clare. Mary opened a shop and she and her 3 children (none of whom married) are buried in Clare. When Anne returned, she married and raised a family in Clare.
I’ve been working on the Doody family tree since 2009 and have traced all of the members in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. I know that the other 5 Doodys who went to Chicago – Bridget, Maggie, John, Patrick and Andrew all married people from County Clare (or in Andrew’s case a first generation American whose parents were from Clare).
Margaret’s mother (Mary), who died in 1988 was Michael Doody’s eldest daughter. She moved to the east coast of Ireland, married and raised her family. Mary’s youngest sister (also Margaret) died in Clare last year, but the sister ((*)) is still alive and living in County Clare. Margaret remembers her mother receiving letters from her cousins in America.
I’d like to complete the Doody family tree, including the descendants of Bridget, Maggie, John, Patrick and Andrew. Would you be willing to help me fill in some of the gaps ?
