Title: Andrew O'Loughlin and Bridget Doody
Post by: Canterburynorth on Monday 03 May 10 01:23 BST (UK)
Hello all,

I am hoping to be able find out if the above couple had any children born in Ireland.

Andrew was born c 1836 Ennis, Clare
Bridget was born  c 1839 Cloondrinagh, Clare

They married in 1861 in Lissycasey, Ballynacally Clare.

They emigrated to New Zealand sometime before 1876.

Thanks so much for reading

Kind regards
Leandra

Full Civil registration started in 1864, so to find details of any children they had before then would require church records. These are not available online for Co. Clare at the moment. For later births you could search the civil BMD index - see the topic 2 Minute Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html) for details

The IGI section of www.familysearch.org may also be useful to track any children the couple had.

Clare Library website has a lot of genealogical information, you could trawl through it to see if you can find anything relevant

Hi Leandra,

I have stuff to send you on Doodys, but Family Search now includes Irish b, m & d records prior to civil registration. This is new. I had a look and couldn't find the birth or marriage details of Andrew & Bridget. However, as they married in Feb 1861 and had first children in Aug 1863, there is a good chance that those were their first. Shipping records of their emigration should confirm.

Speak soon.
