Hi folks!
Long time since I've been on here, hope everyone is doing well. I'll take time out to have a browse through the latest restoration projects, I continue to be delighted by your wonderful work.
I've finally managed to lay my hands on a photo of my great grandparents, and it's unfortunately damaged across the middle. I wondered if any of you fabulous folks on here would be kind enough to restore it for me? Scanned at 600dpi, hope it's ok for you to work with.
My belief is that it's their wedding pic, which would have been 1902 but if anyone thinks otherwise, your comments would be much appreciated ;D

Hippy :) :) :) :)

Thank you Hippy, so much better!!! ;D
Can anyone tell me (having a blonde moment), if I post a larger pic at 300, will it be good enough to work with from your perspective, and allow me to have a larger finished picture? I scanned it twice, once at 300 and once at 600, but the 600 scan was in the middle of the scanner so has a large amount of white around it that I can't seem to cut properly, hence the smaller pic I posted. Does any of this make sense, or am I just having a right Sunday?? ::)

Thank you again Pels!
Despite all the wonderful old photos inherited when my grandmother died, we didn't have one with my great Grandfather, or an early one of my great Grandmother - this old original was gifted to me last week and I'll treasure it, together with everyone's restorations.
Thank you so much mudge and tabsearch, excellent work and I'll be able to share these around the family who will be delighted xxxx

Hi Lass :)
Pels has just drawn my attention to your lovely photo. I' d love to do a restore and colour but have to restrict how much I do at the moment (Poll will slap me if I strain my eyes too much ;D ;D ;D ) but I will do it in the next week or so if you can wait.

Wonderful work, can't thank you enough Hippy, Mudge, David, Irene, Carolyn and the lovely Poll (*waves* hey honey!).
As always, in awe of everyone's talents, I call it magic in this part of the world ;D
Gadget, hello my sweet! I'd be totally delighted for you to have a play with colour, but on the condition that you take your time or jack it in completely if you're overdoing it, I know you need to be very careful. I don't wish to be responsible for making you suffer. Nor do I wish to be on the receiving end of Poll's whip. ;D

Hi Lass... it's a lovely photo and I'll have a proper go later in the week.. The "quickie" was by way of bookmarking the page to remind me ... ;)
I would insist PELS DOES A RESTORE TOO if I were you ;D ;D ;D She seems to be a bit like a talent scout... searching the board for really fabulous photos to restore ... then sending us pms to do them!! ;D ;D ;D So ... we will if you will Pels :P :P ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Poll
ps I'm watching ....and counting Gadget ....

Bless ya, Poll! :-*
Pels, where are ya? Poll wants you to do a restore for me ;D
Something just occurred to me which flew straight past me in the heat of the moment of laying hands on this photo! I had originally presumed this to be their wedding photo, but am wondering if I'm now wrong. The photographer is Edinburgh based, although they were married in Laurencekirk. Can anyone shed any light on this? Would they have hired a photographer to come up from Edinburgh (seems daft since there were plenty locally) or would they have headed down to Edinburgh later, dressed in their finery? Can't see that either, especially since I don't believe there were any family down here back then. Or is it just not their wedding pic?!! Date fits ok, they were married in 1902 and I believe the photographers were around then.....

Hi Lass
Pels told me on the phone that she was doing it - I suggested that she restored and I coloured but she said that it would take her ages. She has sent me the large version so I've got my spot healing tools and finger mark duster out :)
I noticed the Leith Walk address. Laurencekirk is a fair way away so I'm not sure that it would be a wedding photo. Maybe they went to Edinburgh for a honeymoon.
She does have a wedding ring on and her dress looks to me as if it could be 1902-1905

Thank you Gadget, you're wonderful :-*
It might just be a photo, not a particularly special one, that they got all dolled up for!

Oooooer I'll second that !!! ;) ;) ;) ;D Oooer your first time eh Carol... I guarantee you'll go back ... ;).
Isn't it a stunning pic ...I just loved the dress....

I know I'm biased but yes Poll, I agree that it's beautiful! I think gr Granny looks so mature, she'd have been 22 so not exactly a wee slip of a thing, I don't know, I can't explain but there's something about the way she carries herself in this photo. And gr Grandad was a fine, handsome fella!!

Pels, where are ya? Poll wants you to do a restore for me ;D
Hello ! :)
I'm late ! :-[ ;D

And another slightly sharper one.
Not that you need it, everyone has already done them very proud. :)

Hi Lass
I log in to put up a very small version of 'where I'm at so far' and find a lovely restore by Pels about 5 mins ahead of me :)
I've still got a lot to do and I've now got to resume tidying my Scottish garden for another day :-X
Bet i'm the only one whose taken them to the Highlands ;D
Will complete when I'm back in Geordieland.
Gadget
(PS - if you do want to print it out, I've tried it 500% from Photoshop and it looks fine - no pixels)
It would help if I put up the piccie :-[

Wow, thank you Pels and Gadget, marvellous work! I particularly like the sharper one Pels, makes the light on the side of her face really pretty! Love the 'frame' Gadget, and yes, I doubt this photo has ever been to the highlands!! Hope you're enjoying your break (?) and I'm delighted you're going to do the other one, but I insist you take your time!!
I'm going to have to print all of these off now, cos I can't choose!!
Thank you everyone!!
